Making this topic on most video game forums I frequent just for fun

Not all - points have to apply, but they usually do.

I know people in the no respect and utter disrespect tiers in real life.

God tier respect:

- Collecting the games you like to play or have played pirated and want to replace your pirated collection with originals - you don't care if a game is sealed or not and have no problem opening it. You don't collect with the intend on reselling and would resell only doubles or games you had to get in a haul to get a lower price.

- You like most of the games in your collection because they were hand picked by you and what you wanted to play at the time

- You know about the majority of the games in your collection, what type of game they are, whether they're your thing or not, you've played at least a little bit of them.

Mid tier respect:

- You collect and try to get full sets but don't care about sealed or not, you don't collect with the intend on flipping the games at some point and making profit

- You know about the majority of the games in your collection, what type of game they are, whether they're your thing or not, you've played at least a little bit of them.

Low tier respect:

- You like games but obsess too much over minor details of your game collection, you dislike most of the games in your collection but have them anyways and constantly go from collecting games to selling it all and a few years later starting up collecting again.

- You obsess over having your games sealed

- You haven't even touched most of the games in your collection and only collect based on how rare something is

No Respect:

- New to collecting and you think every game you acquire might be rare

- You're more interested in the rarity and price of the game than the game itself

- You are happy that you have a rare game simply because it's rare or expensive, not because you actually get to own a hard to find game and play it on actual hardware and have fun

- Constantly flip flop between "collecting" and reselling

- You know little to nothing about the games you collect, haven't played most of them

- You have ideas of gradure of collecting full and complete sets just to realize that's impossible and sell everything, then you start over at some point

- You're in it for the thrill of collecting and getting the games first instead of other collectors, not because you love and want to play those games.

- Can't tell the difference between rare and sought after, so you determine rarity solely on price range

- You pay extra to have your games graded

Complete and utter disrespect

- You learned that retro games are expensive on ebay and hoard up every retro game you can

- You "collect" multiple copies of the same game in hopes to resell in the future all while lying through your teeth that you love video games and retro games and know a lot about games, but when someone talks to you all you know is Super Mario and a few other popular titles which you barely played

- Every game with a visually appealing label art or box art must be good and rare or expensive

- You talk to other people into collecting games in a roundabout way, you beat around the bush and try to learn what's rare or valuable.

- You think every retro game is valuable and rare

- Can't tell the difference between rare and sought after, so you determine rarity solely on price range

- If you see someone interested in a game, you go out of your way to snag that game from them thinking they want it because it's rare/expensive

- you know absolutely nothing about the games you hoard

- You pretend you won't ever sell, but sell everything you can at the first good opportunity or hoard obsessively and consider games a future investment.

- When trading with other collectors or selling, if a collector you think knows more about games wants to trade with you for something you decide to hold onto it since it must be rare...it really isn't btw you're an idiot.
