I'm very glad to see this particular bill gone.

"Congress, state legislatures, and local governments are in a position to adopt appropriate policies or laws addressing this issue," Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement.

There are legitimate concerns but you also have transgendered who now identify themselves as a man or woman and want to choose the bathroom that they identify with. There are also other medical considerations that clearly some of the posters here don't understand.

This should have been a non-issue but apparently bathrooms are a serious issue. Also, unisex bathrooms exist everywhere so who cares.

With unisex bathrooms... Are everyone happy or no one?

Considering that the more we learn about trans the more it's nothing but a mental disorder and now these people will be forced to seek help to fix themselves rather than keep having their illness enabled by laws like this.

There is no medical condition that requires someone to use the restroom of the opposite sex.

simple question: should someone w/ all the outward appearances of a man use the women's restroom or the men's restroom?

That would be a fiasco in large public places. I went to the circus last week (the first time I have ever been to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus) and had a ticket in a row with a mother and at least 4 children. Without me knowing when, the mother had switched seats with one of the kids. Don't know why and do not care, but imagine if they had to take kids into a restroom with both male and female adults. Parents are afraid of adults molesting their children (was that the reason why the mother switched seats?), taking girls into a restroom with grown men standing at urinals would really freak them out. It is different with mothers taking young boys into the women's restroom as there are stalls so no one can see anything and they are not as worried compared to the other way.

I used to know this girl who had a naturally occurring hormone imbalance that made her look like a dude. She got sick of getting kicked out of women's restrooms all the time, so she started consistently using the men's room where people left her alone. I hope nowadays she goes in the ladies room in conservative states with a copy of her birth certificate just to make a point.

We've always had people who we aren't sure is a man or woman or very burly looking women or feminine looking men. They went to their gender's restroom.

If a very burly woman went to the ladies restroom I would think that person's life is not all that great. I don't think the right thing to do is take a burly woman and tell her "I'm sorry, you look so far away from femininity that we are now going to make you use the men's restroom"

We know how just having stalls would go. Men urinate all over the place as it is that no seats would be usable by anyone for either use.

You are aware that some stalls can have urinals....right?

i agree. so shouldn't that woman be allowed to use the restroom she associates herself with ( the women's room )?

no one is passing a law that says "if you look like a man, you have to use the men's room"

they just don't want a law passed that says "if you look like a man but were born a woman, you HAVE to use the women's room, regardless of how you feel about it"

ffs, it's a bathroom. the right likes to get their panties in a jumble over "the nanny state" but jesus....
