Just wow,

Inside the Secret Border Patrol Facebook Group Where Agents Joke About Migrant Deaths and Post Sexist Memes

https://www.propublica.org/article/secret-border-patrol-facebook-group-agents-joke-about-migrant-deaths-post-sexist-memes?utm_content=buffer58eae&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter&utm_campaign=buffer

The visit, which was organized by Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chairman Joaquin Castro, came just hours after ProPublica reported that Ocasio-Cortez and other lawmakers have recently been the target of racist and sexist slurs on a Facebook group used by CBP officers.

According to A.C. Thompson of ProPublica, members of the 9,500-member secret Facebook group for current and former Border Patrol agents joked “about the deaths of migrants, discussed throwing burritos at Latino members of Congress visiting a detention facility in Texas on Monday and posted a vulgar illustration depicting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez engaged in oral sex with a detained migrant.”

Why am I not surprised some of those people are racist thugs.

"Facebook group that comprises about 9,500 current and former employees. There are about 20,000 active Border Patrol agents."

Yikes.

This keeps sounding worse and worse,

https://theintercept.com/2019/07/01/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-democrats-denounce-migrant-detention-conditions/

Officials at both facilities were “very resistant to Congressional oversight. They tried to restrict what we saw, take our phones, block photos and video. Atmosphere was contentious and uncooperative.”

Oh wow this devolved to a complete shit-show,

Rep. Rashida Tlaib had to endure a pro-Trump heckler yelling "We don't want Muslims here either," "We don't care about Sharia law, we care about Jesus Christ," "Go care about your own country." Video of the scene in Clint:

Why are conservatives so backwards?

While I think there are border patrol members in there, and agree there are groups like this because there is screen shots but what I'm doubting is that they are all border patrol. The source is a rabbit hole to junk. Please check your source's source, as I can't find anything about this from them or the pictures.

I looked for the group (I'm 10-15), AOC and there's nothing. Can anyone else find it?

I'm sure not all are border patrol agents. But some certainly are.

It's worrying. Especially when you line this up with reports of their behavior against migrants and the behavior against the congresswomen today.

Yeah the link I posted is your sources source. So where it got it's info. It is a little worrying especially with the recent trail of the border patrol guy shooting the guy though the fence but I'm not going to say a large minority of them are like this when the sources source isn't showing much and out of the 5096 Results they have, its the same people over and over again.

These detention centers should try to get regular employees instead of anti-migrant employees.

This concentration camp needs to be scrapped and something else sorted out. How many children have died already? People not even allowed a bar of soap or toothpaste. Disgusting and something you'd only expect to hear happening in North Korea.

Maybe we should just scrap our sovereignty? Perhaps give them a stern warning, release all of them and ASSUME they will show up for court?

What does "out sovereignty" have to do with a bar of soap, toothpastes, and water to drink? And not hiring hardcore racists?

I'm not sure you guys are understand the problem people have.

He said "something else sorted out". We're not saying we don't need detention centers or open borders, they just need better conditions and a better system. If someones idea is to scrap it and start over, then so be it.

MAGA's tend to be weak chinned, beta people. They go into these types of employment fields because it gives them a chance to finally get back at Chad and the other's who picked on them and made fun of them for enjoying hentai porn. Only these "blue lives matter" chanting wannabe jackboots never have the courage to stand up to Chad but instead focus their incel rage on vulnerable children instead.

Is it an official Border Patrol facebook group?

Either way it's still disgusting, but I won't generalize an entire organization because of a few scumbags.

He said it needs to be scrapped. Breaking our laws has consequences even if you folks think they get to pass go and collect $200. If my Spanish is close: "La hierba no es más verde en el otro lado."

Are you denying that there are people in power that actually want to give mass amnesty? Are you denying that Beto O’Rourke, a presidential candidate, said during an recent interview that he would tear down the parts of the wall that have already been built if he was in power? What purpose would that have besides making it easier for migrants to cross illegally?

If this stuff turns out to be tied to actual officers they need to be, at the very least, disciplined. It's the same as discovering a cop/judge being racist and spitting this vitriol on public media. Once that happens they've proven themselves of being incapable of holding their position and deserving of termination.

Pay attention to the whole conversation instead of only replying to the part that you think you can own me on. He called the assumption that people want to just scrap our sovereignty and give them de facto amnesty hyperbole. I responded by mentioning the many people out there that want us to have open borders as well as the presidential candidate that says he wants to tear down our current border wall. Not simply stop construction that Trump is starting, but tear down what is already up.

The hygiene products are another issue and that needs to be fixed. But the more Democrats tell the world that if they reach our border they will get in and have a chance to stay, the more overcrowded those facilities will be. As for agents being racist scumbags, the ones that are have no place there, but the ones that aren’t should not be lumped in with the ones that are.

The entire organization is compromised, and AOC's and the other reps on that trip have exposed this.

And 9,500 isn't just a few scumbags.

That is a big group. Wish I could say I am surprised it's that many, but Trump's America really brought these types out of the woodwork and to the forefront.

It almost sounds like he is using "better safe than sorry" as an excuse, that it is better to abuse the rights (innate rights, not American legal rights) of people than to find a civil, diplomatic solution and undo the oppressive work that has been done so far.

You can read the reply I gave to him and see why I said what I said. But in terms of a diplomatic solution, we already know what most of them want that solution to be, which is mass amnesty and possibly open borders. I don’t agree with open borders but I would respect these politicians a little more of they just flat out say that they want open borders rather than beat around the bush while looking for excuses to release immigrants on their own recognizance. But for them to admit that, they risk driving away moderates that may not want a second term of Trump but also believe that as a sovereign nation we need to defend our borders even if it doesn’t involve a wall.

Harris County Judge (Houston TX) has visited a nearby camp and is reporting human rights abuses.

https://twitter.com/Lina4HC

Yeah, Harris County actually has its own "AOC"......Lina Hidalgo pulled off a MONSTER upset (over a pretty popular moderate Republican) last year to be the executive of the nations 3rd largest county.

Two big interviews with AOC. Scary stuff, she says about what may have happened to the kids at the Clint facility, and about dealing with the threats on her life and how she isn't offered security.

She also goes into detail in how she went into badass mode and derailed the tour so she can meet with the women there, which was backed up by Rep Joe Kennedy III on twitter.

Joaquin Castro's (who is Julian Castro's twin) actions in sneaking in a recording device was huge. It killed any skepticism ushered by the right. And he gets full props for leading this trip.

And go Ayanna Pressley

Sammie talks about rights but laws also apply to these people, children or not. A diplomatic solution? Follow our laws and understand ignoring our sovereignty has consequences. Oppressive he says? I wasn't aware we have to bend over and fulfill the wishes of people who continually violate our laws without remorse and regret until they suffer the ill effects.

And there is a second group like this.

Wow, AOC has them running scared.

Tongue in cheek and dark humor being showcased by those in professions consistently around high stress, and unpleasant material is not uncommon. Nurses, ER personnel, EMTs, fire, police and military all partake in such dark humor.

It doesn't surprise me to see virtue signalers dredge through various avenues of the internet to get an "ah ha!" point. Seems to be a common tactic of political groups, left and right, to discredit or defame large groups/organizations based on the micro mantras being showcased.

As always, it's readily clear the idea of anonymity on the internet provides a weak veil - but easily accessible avenue - to those who post nasty, hateful, or inappropriate material. While I don't doubt there are many in the "REEEEEEE" time that wish to censor content they do not agree with, free speech and ability to express such are still impactful and important pillars for the interwebs. If there are such members of the Border Patrol posting material that was against policy, then it will be up to the department to bring discipline towards such.

These detention centers should try to get regular employees instead of anti-migrant employees.

They did hire regular employees. What we're seeing is a pretty common outcome for jobs like this.

Same thing happens with police officers. Most of them don't start out racist; they start out decent people. Getting exposed to what they do, day after day after day? They see the worst of humanity every day.

You get exposed to a subset of the population lying to you and being violent often enough, and you start noticing patterns. Then confirmation bias and Cry Wolf effect creep in... and suddenly you start noticing criminal actions by that subset more and believing the honest ones less.

And then, those people who made racist jokes that you hated? You're one of them. You're telling the same jokes they did, sharing and laughing at the same memes they are, making the same arguments they do. You've become part of the problem that, at the beginning, disgusted you. Race doesn't matter; we've seen minority cops walk the same path when exposed to the same stimulus.

It's a classic slippery slope. And people slide down it every day.

We need to fix the staffing of these places. Get out the bad apples, and rotate the ones that are in so that they don't get hit by the same stimulus too much. Do the same with cops; rotate them between precincts regularly so they don't get stuck in the same trap.

Border patrol agents are entitled to their own opinions just like everyone else. They seem tame compared to fringe left groups like Antifa.

This doesn't always extend to employment.

Your employer CAN fire you if they see you do this kind of stuff online, and it is within 100% of their right. It has happened and will continue to happen.
