I've been wondering why this wasn't up from day one or week one. They've been posting the numbers, but no chart. Anyways now you can track how people, on average, feel about the job Trump is doing. February 16, 2017 (not even a month in) was the first day Trump's disapproval rating hit just above 50%. I do think they should reflect all the way back to January 20th though, they don't provide a reason to exclude it. Maybe he simply hadn't done the job long enough to fairly judge? I'm not sure.

Anywho, enjoy guys.

Also for those seeing the low approval rating, and celebrating please take note that his favorability rating on election day was 37.5.

The real question is: does anybody give a hoot about polls anymore after the election debacle?

@DaBrainz: Data collection remains a powerful tool for prediction. Imperfect, sure, but still perhaps the most powerful tool in the box. What else would you suggest people work with?

There are conflicting polls suggesting that Trump may have a higher approval rating.

It's still too early to tell, although his support for questionable policies as well as his questionable dealings suggest that his approval ratings continue to plummet.

If his approval rating is sitting in the thirties and maybe in the really low fourties his approval rating will hurt republicans in congress, in governor races and in state senate and house races especially Democrats are really energized now. Look at what happened over the weekend in delaware. A democratic state senator won their race by like 15% more then the previous holder of that seat won that same state senate seat in 2014. 2016 won't always happen for the republicans. They are running on borrowed time with trump as the current head of the republican party.

Exactly. Trump's presidency is going to have consequences, there are a lot of valid reasons why Republicans were nervous about him running for president.

What debacle? The polls were correct and Clinton had the popular vote by 3% - her average in the polls by election day.

It's a forum. And when you make statements you're expected to be able to back them up. Instead you told him to goggle. Which means you can't support your statement. Nonetheless.......You didn't give me 2 specific websites. So now you're lying.

And Trump is now averaging at a 51.3% disapproval rate. His approval rating is 8.5 points underwater at 42.8%. I mean we will see if this lasts, but what is on the horizon that is going to change it for the better?

Again though I will point out that Trump has the numbers in Congress to where he can ignore his approval ratings, but come 2018 he just might drag the congress down with him to where he won't have those numbers anymore. In which case he will likely feel the need to try and concern himself with voters in the middle.

this comment doesn't follow logically from the conversation at hand.

how does a topic showing the elected president's approval rating have anything to do with the election at this point?

It's his lowest point.

Hard to know what the guy's floor is. I reckon he won't go lower than 35% unless something insane happens like he gets impeached or the economy completely crashes. As long as the economy is trucking along the bottom won't fall out.

Trump care might be a hindrance. The 'Freedom Caucus' (LOL x100000) might tank it since it doesn't go far enough to strip people of subsidized means of obtaining affordable health plans.

It's amazing to me that it's that high, considering the people hurt most by his proposals are the people who voted for him. If they dont view his behavior as a treachery, I dont know what will change their minds.

@LJS9502_basic: I don't know what poll you are referring to, but rcp takes the average of a bunch of polls. It will take a sustained group of polls around the 37% range to reflect such a number.

When are you going to stop harping on this narrative? Is this going to be your line 3 years from now? Something tells me you're still going to rallies slobbering at the bit to start chanting "Lock her up! Lock her up!" at the first sight of your messiah onstage. Christ, for someone that deems is suitable to give others such advice, let me use your own words:

"Move on".

OK. It's just this whole notion that people are pissed about losing is a bit delusional. These moves against Trump aren't driven by a slight against one's ego due to their defeat they haven't been able to overcome, it's because Trump's in the Oval Office and they want him out. Sure, people are going to look for any reason to attack him, but it's not because they're sore losers. I doubt many people have the election even in their heads at this point.

Most are past that, have begun to live with the reality, and are now pursuing other means.

When I was growing up, my parents taught me that if I undertake an action in which I am ashamed of before, and after, I have committed a wrong deed. What does it say about you that you compromised yourself, merely to see the system you rely upon smashed?
