...to return to regular life by third quarter of 2021. Well, I suppose that we can hold out until then, huh?

Health experts say mask wearing is as effective as a vaccine so for now those of us who follow the rules should be good.

@LJS9502_basic: I'll still be taking a vaccine if available and safe, hahaha.

To be sure once it's safe my family is getting the vaccine.

There are no approved vaccines for the coronavirus. Three drugmakers are currently in late-stage testing for potential vaccines and expect to know if they work by the end of the year.

This part seems relavant in my opinion. Kind of makes the whole thing feel like a guesstimation at best. As Matt and LJ said though, once one is approved and safe I will definitely be getting one.

In the current state of the CDC I have very dubious confidence in distribution of a viable vaccine, and honestly not much confidence the "vaccine" will be in condition for mass production at all.

I mean would it really surprise anyone if they claimed way too conveniently on November 2nd that the vaccine is ready?

That seems like it's probably their best case scenario, which is pretty depressing.

I know a lot of people will be disappointed this is going into 2021, but that's better than I had hoped.

Vaccine trials generally take years and this is going to take less than two (assuming they started in 2020).

Russia already has a wonderful vaccine. Most likely effective, and only 45% chance of growing a second head.

So you're saying this will cause some people in the States to grow a brain?

This idea is becoming appealing...

Two brains on a dumb person doesn't make them any smarter.

That's an optimistic estimate at best.

So the CDC says the vaccine could finish testing by the end of the year, and if the tests are looking good, a vaccine could start being effective in mid-to-late 2021 (after manufacturing, and then reaching a high enough number of vaccinations to make a difference)?

That's great news. Hopefully this will stop politicians lying about rolling out a vaccine before June 2021.

@Planeforger:

Trump apparently has claimed that the cdc director "was confused" and gave incorrect information about the vaccine. Trump said/lied that there will be enough of the vaccine to distribute to 100 million people by the end of this year.

There really is nothing Trump won't lie about.

@Serraph105 Wow, Trump really is clueless how vaccinations work. Then again,

The only one who is confused here is Donald Trump.

I'm not surprised by this at all I rather have it take longer and be done right then rush it out and make things worst.
