i gotta spend 100 bucks more for some extra **** i dont need...JustAnotherFanHow do you know you don't need it? When you finally do get your PS3, you'll soon find that with the downloadable content, partial game installs, and software updates you will eat up most of 20GB pretty fast. And they are adding more stuff to the store every week, so you are garaunteed to run out of space pretty quickly if you start running the 20GB version.

It's possible to upgrade the HDD for a lot less than 100 bucks though.
Sony says there was more demand for the 60GB, but the real reason was that they were making more money off of the 60GB than the 20GB. 20GB PS3 and 60GB PS3 are same to me and I felt that I saved $100. Im going to eventually buy a new HDD that's bigger than 60GB anyway. mikeslemonade
You actually believe that? the ps3 would sell more if there was a cheaper alternative. Not everyone has wifi or care about it and the extra hard drive space is no big deal. Maybe they were losing more on the 20gig hence they discontinued it. It still exists in Japan though.

yeah u can get a 500 gb for $120(more than $100)Sony says there was more demand for the 60GB, but the real reason was that they were making more money off of the 60GB than the 20GB. 20GB PS3 and 60GB PS3 are same to me and I felt that I saved $100. We know that for one reason...better value.Â
I was about to buy the cheaper ps3 but they dont make those any more? I called 10 gamestops and visited sites but they said they dont make them now. **** i gotta spend 100 bucks more for some extra **** i dont need...JustAnotherFanWelcome to today. How was your two month nap?
Well... the 20gb version didn't do well at all. I mean, since the price difference isn't that much, many would spend extra for the 60gb version, so Sony simply go with the demand and stop producing the 20gb version.

You could always try ebay & the ebgames nearby where I live (Phila, PA) still has 2 20gb models, so I dont know abotu them stop making it, far as I know PS3 is selling good but for some reason 20gb's are still on shelves here & I do own 1.
The sales speak for them selfs no one bought the 20gigs, when I was in line for my PS3 every single person got the 60gig and every time I seen someone buy a PS3 it was always the 60gig.Kimahriii
Since no one bought them why can't you find them anywhere? I can get a wi fi adaptor for $30.00 and a much larger hard drive for $70.00. Unfortunately a lot of people don't know these things.

yeah u can get a 500 gb for $120(more than $100)I'd really like to know where you saw a 2.5 inch drive over 200gb. The only 200gb SATA drives I've seen are only 4200 RPM, which I think might be an issue. I think for the time being 160gb, which you can get for around $100, is about the best you will get.Id really like to know where you saw a 2.5 inch drive over 200gb.  Where do you shop? Fred Meyer? After I read your quote, I went and found a 250 gig (7200 RPM) SATA internal hard drive for $59.99. I hope no one here has paid $100 for a 160 gig hard drive.

lol, congrats for waiting thats what you get, and i hope you werent waiting for a price drop cause that bit you in the butt if you did
Hmmm, I wonder if it could have something to do with the rumors of a price drop? Nix the $500 dollar unit to make the 60GB a $500 dollar unit?
BTW am I the only one whos been seeing these rumors or theories of price drop? I'm going to make a post in my blog and start listing sites and information in it of a possible price drop soon. If anyone wants the info you'll know where to find it...

Where? The only 250GB internal 2.5" SATA that is available is that by fujitsu from what I know. And also, that 250GB hard drive is 3mm higher than regular 2.5" hard drives, why? because it has an added disc internally for the extra storage. The largest 8mm formfactor SATA 2.5" HDD is 200GB.Â
