So far, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, and Rock Band 2 have given me this problem. Why are they in a lower resolution than other games? I know what high-def games look like, and these aren't it, what's wrong with my Playstation??? Anything would be of help to me.southp777First, tell me the tv your using, must be your tv, if not the cables, if not the settings in your tv, never blame your PS3, blame the producers/makers of the game and your tv/cables/settings...

I'm using an HDMI cable and have a 1080i Samsung LCD-tv. southp777Then you're ok, check your PS3's settings and make sure, you have 480p, 720p, 1080i, checked...everything up to 1080p, then after that check your tv settings, if these don't help, then I don't know, but go to Display settings, and do the above, it is located in settings, all the way to the left besides "User" and "Turn of the system".

The game would never be forced to something it can not play, but I understand where you coming from, although you wouldn't have to do this ^^^, just try it out.

Because the hardware should have a scaling chip that would solve 99% of these problems. The "other" system does and even auto detects which resolutions your display can handle on set up. Sony just made resolution detection and setting of the display overly complicated.

Thanks, I only had 1080i checked, went back and checked 480i and 720p, and they look a hell of a lot better. And to the other guy, I'm wasn't trying to blame my PS3, I just got it after my 360 broke, you have to understand that I'm new to the Playstation and I didn't know why some games looked worse.
