You guys are just throwing new titles at him. Don't forget about some of the older titles, remember, he just got his PS3. I'd go for Resistance: Fall of Man, Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Rainbow Six Vegas, and a little more recently Guitar Hero 3 or Rock Band (or both!).
Edit: Almost forgot Unreal Tournament 3, I love that game.
good decision on the wii for ps3... i would buy oblivion because it will last you forever. i would also buy cod4 because of the sick multiplayer and single player experience

i would get the goty edition of obilvion and for multiplayer you cant beat unreal tournament 3 :) with 9 new maps already to download

enjoy your ps3..i know i enjoy mine if u play online..cod4 is fun., and any ps3 owner must have: Uncharted; Drakes Fortune..Exclusive only on my console of choice :P
EDIT: if you like FPS one of my favs is "The Darkness"..great story..great graphx
