Or can I just jump right into the second one. AC 1 and 2 are $20 on PSN and I've never played, so which would you recommend? I can't get the others because They're a bit more and I'm kinda on a tight budget. Thanks.

Of those two choices, I'd go with II. It's a bit more varied in activities, and combat is better. IMO, the setting is more interesting too. It has a few references of the first AC you won't get though.

Thanks for the replys. Maybe I'll just go ahead and start with the first one then. I'm kind of a fanatic about doing story based games in order.

Why would you want to start in the middle of the story?

Although the first one is good, it does get boring so I suggest starting with 2 and reading a summary on wikipedia or watching some videos on youtube of the first game.

It sucks that you have to make this choice because I love part one's story but part two is so much more fun. Obviously i would go for one but please don't judge the series on just part one cause the imporvments on gameplay for the sequel were on a whole other level.

I've only played the second one and didn't feel as if I was missing anything.

2 is much better, you might have a problem following the story for awhile, but I think if you start at two and play through Revelations, you'll have a good understanding.

If you do start on the first and find it somewhat repetitive and boring, just remember the second is much better and still play it. I found the first one to still be enjoyable, but it is very repetitive.

When the sequels are vastly superior in terms of gameplay, it makes sense. At least that's my opinion.

Then again I've never been one who really cared about the storyline in Assassin's Creed, I've always just been interested in the settings. So maybe I'm not the best person to take advice from.:P

I prefer the second AC but then you're a bit right you can't understand quite well the story without playing the first one...

First of all, don't buy them on PSN, they're much cheaper at like Gamestop.

Now, if you're going to follow the story closely, obviously buy the first one, if not, buy the second. AC2 is a huge improvement from the first.

In my case however, I was able to understand the story in AC2 with only playing through like half of AC1.

The story of the first one is summarized very nicely in the opening cutscenes of Assassin's Creed II.

I'd just go on the AC wiki read up on the first game, then I'd buy 2, brotherhood and revelations. The first one has a great plot but it gets repetitive after a while and the combat sucks in my opinion.

First buy from somewhere other than PSN, if you buy AC:Revelations on for the PS3 it should come with AC 1 on the Disc. I say play through the first, it was a good game, people tend to forget that at times because the second was a lot better. You will also enjoy the second more if you play the first. I still remember how upset people were when they announced there was going to be a new assassin in the second game.

Agree with some others...watch a summary of the first game on Youtube, then buy the second game. First one is not fun after the first hour.

Definitely have to start with the first to get a firm understanding of the historical cross science-fictiony story. The story is very good by the way. Complex but intriguing.

I'd recommend catching up with the story through yt. Part 1 wasn't very enjoyable.. and the bugs didn't help.

Definitely go in order with the 1st. That is a pivotal part to the story,
