So let me get this straight...Ps2 games can be upconverted to 1080P but...

The PS3 doesn't have a hardware upscaler. The PS2 upscaling is by software.

Anyway, you're not going to notice really any difference between 720p and 720p upscaled to 1080p.

No, if your TV supports 1080p, then the games will be upscaled to 1080p.

uncheck 720p in the list of options and the game will be scaled to 1080p same goes for countless others.

An upconverted 1080p doesnt really mean much, its like a fake 1080p. My mortal Kombat 2 download is in 1080p!!!

Games like warhawk are running at a true resolution made for the game, when you mess around with reolutions you will find if you play upconverted games in 1080p, they look better at the their natural resolution of 720p or what ever.

Anyway, just let your PS3 games render in their native resolution. They look better that way anyway.

PS1/2 games = better when upscaled.

PS3 games are NOT better when upscaled.

well so far all the ps2 games i've played on ps3 run in 1080p

Of course... PS2 games are all emulated by software, and the PS3 has loads more processing power than the PS2 so it can afford to use some extra muscle as far as resolution goes.Funkyhamster

The 80GB version uses software to emulate, but the 20GB and 60GB have PS2 hardware in them. I have the 60GB, and I upcoverted some PS2 games like Ratchet and Jak and Daxter, and they look bad. They look blurry and dull, so I just play them in 480p and they look better even with some jaggies.
