Needless to say, I am as shocked as you all probably are that here in this part of Florida, I was able to score a 60GB ps3. A refurb from Gamestop, mind you, but since Sony seems intent on neutering their console even further, and since the uBid auctions (where I was intending to go) for ps3's are now starting to be polluted with entries of broken units, I finally broke down, got one, and the replacement plan for it (since I have zero faith in Sony reliability). Problem is, after paying for all that and tax, I couldn't afford anything else. :( And the controller isn't even a dualshock 3. So, besides going through my back catalog and seeing what does play, and what doesn't, what else can I do for fun with the ps3? I'm updating it to 2.42 as I write this before I create a PSN login.

download a bunch of demos from the PSN store, or buy some PSn games like Super Star Dust HD, calling all cars, etc.

Rent Uncharted. I rented it for one week for $7 and beat the game in 4 days. It was worth every penny :)

How do I go about downloading any demo's for this system? Obviously as a refurb, I didn't get any manuals to show me how to do jack, and I got pretty used to the 360's interface for downloading games.

sign up for a PSN account then go into the PS Store and download a bunch of demos, they should keep you busy until you have enough money to buy a game. You can buy full games from the PS Store too which some are cheap [under 10.00] depending on the game. But you have to use your credit card though.

You can check out the game trading site goozex, I've unloaded a bunch of games I don't need to get new games for my x360, ps3 or Wii. I'm even getting old rare ps1 games to play on my ps3. If you're interested there's a link in my sig.

I just thought of something, rather important. Considering the fact that this is gamestop we're talking about, is there a way within the PS3 to verify which "model" I have? Yea, I know they sold it as a 60, but I want to *verify* it is a 60 before getting too involved with the unit.

Go to Settings > System Settings > System Information, if it says "xx gb / 57 gb" then it is a 60gb.

Go download some demos. There are some good ones that will keep you busy for a while, like Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Burnout Paradise.

But wouldn't that information change if you then install a larger hard drive? I guess what I am trying to get at here, is that I just want to make sure that they didn't just take some 40/80GB model and slapped a different size hard drive in the system on me.

Playing Uncharted for the 2nd time now on Hard for trophies then once more fot the expert trophy.

And once you have your sign in PSN ID just go to the Playstation Store found in the menu. There are TONS ofdemos to download and play until you can afford something. Then do the smart thing and buy MGS4 when you have the money.

I'm not sure if the european system is the same as the US one but, in europe the 60GB model has 4 or 6 USB ports while the 40 one has only 2
