And I am greeted by this lovely screen....
Patches... the most frustrating addition to gaming. Ever.

Tis nothing. I've spend up to 2 days downloading patches for pc games. *I have a slower internet connection*
I had to do that too. I just watched a half hour of TV and it was done. The game was worth waiting the half hour.
See, your first problem was wanting to play LBP...
Seriously though, I could not agree more. Downfall of gaming. Remember when you accepted a game (and it's flaws) for what it was? You had no other choice. DLC is turning nearly every gamer into a complainer... fix this, nerf that... guh.
I feel you man, I feel you.I felt like that when i was downloading MGO, and to find out the MP sucks in this game!!!

I don't see the problem with patches, unless there are a lot within a few weeks of a game's release. If you're going to play a game released 2 years ago for consoles, you better expect updates. At least that shows you that developers are actually trying to improve their games. They wouldn't just patch a game to get rid of features. It only makes sense to me dislike DLC, not patches.
[QUOTE="L30KinG"]I feel you man, I feel you. IMO MGO could have been amazing if it wasn't for the control scheme and a lot of minor problems. It's like they added things especially to set it apart from other shooting games, yet those same features made the game worse than others. What annoyed me was that you have to look at your life to see if you're getting hurt or not. The character does scream, if you can call it that, but it was still hard for me to tell. Maybe that's just me, though.I felt like that when i was downloading MGO, and to find out the MP sucks in this game!!!

It is annoying to install the patches at least the developers do fix the problems though games like PAIN! are annoying due to Idol Minds adding more stuff to it all the time especially when you have characters on your selection screen that you haven't bought but the updates on that game are always big. Usually I just go on the computer while my PS3 is installing the data.
Heh, I ran into the same problem a bit ago when I rented a game (Fight Night Round 4) and it wanted me to wait 45+ min to dl some patch. I just turned off my router, b/c, well, it was a rental. I didn't even know if I would like it or not, and didn't want to be bothered with all the junk (I later downloaded the patches after knowing I did, in fact, enjoy the game, and didn't mind doing it then) Could be worse, though. I recently bought Dawn of War II, and had to wait through an install, then a steam update, then a Warhammer update, got into the game, then had to install Games for Windows, then update that too! I was about to scream! I just wanted to play it for a bit, then d/l the patches and such later :(I know it would destroy the experience but you can skip patches by turning off your connection, but they are meant to help (some of them) and itll be worth it.
I went to go play PAIN the other day and it said it needed a 2GB Patch, screw that.

Well the game has been out for almost 2 years, lots of things had to be fixed, you cant blame it for trying to improve your gaming experienceRTUUMMGranted I agree with this, I'm reallt growing sick and tired of the forced update (eg: when it asks if I want to install my options are sit through it, or get kicked out of the game. Windows doesn't do this to me! It's not "option A: wait to use the computer (check email, surf the web, look at porn) while i download the latest patch" "option B: shutdown the computer now and try again later", "option C: there is no option C! Deal with it, you little b***h!" Seriously, no one would put up with that! Especially Windows insulting the user.......

Maybe that's just me, though. The movement in MGO seems non-smooth and the controls fit the regular story but just the gameplay as it is doesn't fit an online scenery.I don't see the problem with patches, unless there are a lot within a few weeks of a game's release. lol that happened to me when I first played Brutal Legend.
The patches took half an hour to install.
Probably the amount of time it took me to beat the whole game,
and if you want somebody to play with my PSN Is JDiamnz.
Lol I was greeted by the same damn screen when I popped in Burnout Paradise the other day. Luckily I had my girlfriend over at the time so I commanded her to make the time fly if you catch my drift :P

Hell yeah! Fried PB&J sandwiches with a giant glass of chocolate milk. That spells perfection to me haha. I'm glad SOMEBODY caught my drift.
Dear lord, I may just skip LBP then. I did plan on getting it just for the hell of it, but after lookin at that screen..oh boy. And downloads take ages on the PS3 I noticed. And I am greeted by this lovely screen....

The game is focused on user generated content, what were you expecting?
toast_burner
What does that have to do with patches? Patches are implemented to fix glitches and problems in the game, like crashing etc. Also, I fully agree with people when they say its good that developers are trying to improve their games and whatnot, which is why I don't mind sitting through a couple of small
You have to download like 10G of data everytime you play MGO.I felt like that when i was downloading MGO, and to find out the MP sucks in this game!!!

Patches are really annoying if you go over to a friends house, stick the disc in and need to download stuff. Thankfully since I rotate playing some of my games the downloads are never extremely long. But Burnout Paradise and LBP were some of the most frequent.
