Wait until it's just about to come out and then get the current model. Sorry but the question is a little...you know...and besides asking that here will likely get people to say get it now because then you'll be just like them.

i had a psp for like a month then got rid of it.. not because its a bad machine i had tons of fun with it, it was because i bought it off a friend and got gyped hard with the anolog nub being screwed up.. but worth it for portible ops and lumines definatly brought some fun to my life :)
Considering there's no real conformation of a redesign, thus making it likely it won't come out for another year at least, I'd just get it now. If you still want the redesign when it comes out, EBGames always has some deal where you can trade in the older version to give credit for the newer version.

Even then, I doubt it will have another analog stick, just a few added on features, so I wouldn't even worry about that. I know I'm sure as hell not coughing up another 200 bucks just for a slimmer, less durable version with extra peripherals that I won't even use.
