there are still games being released for it, but not many, and a lot of them dont come state side. If you are looking for new games for the psp, for the most part, you are out of luck, but there are still tons of great games already released for it that you can get.

its still supported on the PSN too, at least there is that.

In Japan, PSP is, most likely, in its last year, and it's living an amazing ending, with lots of games of good average quality and consistent software sales. Of course, the flow of AAA games has ended, but every week some PSP games (RPGs, Tactical RPGs, Visual Novels, etc.) enter the Japanese top 10, selling well above the 100,000 units just in the first week. In the last 30 days, three good hits have been 7th Dragon 2020 and Shining Ark (Sega) and Sword Art Online (Namco Bandai).

On the contrary, in the West, someone decided that, for some reason, "PSP is dead". This mantra spread out so quickly and strongly that PSP died for true, leading Square Enix to cancel the 2012 release of Final Fantasy Type-0. As for western developers, their contribution to the PSP in the last year has been, basically, zero.

So, yes, if you don't know Japanese and don't import Japanese games, the PSP is dead, just when in Japan is living a beautiful (final) phase.

A gaming platform dies when it hasn't got new SOFTWARE anymore, not when some other HARDWARE sells more... :)

In North America and PAL region. But PSP is still going in Japan/asia some games are still being released. So the PSP is for all intents "Dead" Japan may continue to get a few PSP games until 2014.

The PSP has sold 76 million worldwide or so. That is a great run for Sony's handhald system but for North america R.i.P PSP.

No, we can't.

Not while Namco Bandai and Tecmo still plan to release titles like God Eater 2, Summon Night and Toukiden. And not while games like Sword Art Online or Shining Ark sell more than 100,000 units in few days...

I think that we will put this platform to rest at the end of this year, but not before...

It's coming out later this summer, I guess. And for both PSP and PSVita, so it will be a chance to assess the "liveliness" of the Sony handhelds in respect to eachother.

But, as usual, an English version is not confirmed... :(

Na not when vita sales are getting better. Psp still gets a few oddities here and there like ps2 did. But not the support a current system gets.

It's a shame that the PSP has almost no new western releases. I want so much to play a localized Final Fantasy Type-0 :c

It sells well in Japan/Asia as people have said and even does well in Europe in its 8th year. You're right that Sony have no interest because they'll soon be supporting PS3, PS4 and Vita all at once.

Get over it. The system is like 12 years old. We need PSV games, not PSP games.

There are still game releases(Black Rock Shooter just this week, and a couple more at least coming) so it isn't completely dead but it is on it's last legs.

In Japan, maybe. And after the Vita price drop there, I bet it changes there, too. E3 will be very telling about the Vita's future.

PSP is dead. (in north america at least) People were not aware of this?

It is my favorite system though, and I'm still playing it.
