Why is my download speed so slow for me? it's driving me nuts. After checking multiple times at speedtest.net through the PS browser, it says my download speed is between 6000 kbps to 10000 kbps, at speakeasy.net it ranges wildly also, from 800 kbps to 7000 kbps, yet I'm downloading at a snails pace, basically to download a full demo it takes me about 8 hours! wth? can anyone help me?!? I have Road Runner with their 6 mbps plan.
ok 8hrs is ridiculous, takes me 20 to 30min dependin on size, ur internet might not be as good as u say u are, or open some more ports or try refreshin, cuz 8hrs u is wow lol
8 kb/s = 1 KB. Your download speed is approximately 1 MB/s which is great, and you get what you pay for as stated above. This is why XBL costs money, did you know to maintain youtube it costs 1 million dollars per day?
That is right, most likely your cables for your internet are ridiculously inefficient, and to get them replaced with fiber optic cables like mine it will cost alot.
lately ive been getting an annoying issue with the psn downlaods games i buy will stop downloading for no reason and i have to pause and resume it before it downloads again
I can hardly see it's the PSN problem.. It's quite sure a network error from you to their servers, that don't allow you to run at optimum speed.. It would be ridiculous if their limit was so low.. I download with my full speed.. 25mbit/sec..

What nationality, in australia we pay 100 a month for 10mbs, which is about 60 in american but for cable it is cheaper, very cheap. when in oz are you?

What I don't get is why those speed tests vary so much with my PS3, but are consistently high on my computer.
Im quite jealous of those speeds. I have 15 mbps roadrunner and my ps3 only pulls around 2 mbps even when im wired directly to the modem and all wireless clients are turned off. Any ideas on why that is? my mac computer gets around 17 mbps, so i am really getting frustrated.
I never understand these threads about PSN being slow - I have a cable modem via TWC/Roadrunner in NYC and I've gotta say I've never felt like downloading anything was slow. The only time I ever even noticed a slow download was when Home was first put online and everyone was trying to get it at the same time. That's it. I've got to think that people who have speed problems have a problem with their provider/modem/settings/where they live etc and it has little to do with PSN.
I have a 22MB connection (which is something like 2500kb/s) but I rarely get those kinds of speeds when downloading demos, or downloading directly from sites, simply because their servers can't handle it. So that's the problem here. PSN servers are overloaded and you're getting slower than possible speed. Either that or you're running torrents and forgot about them.

I had the same problem downloaded Heavenly Sword and Warhawk Demos and it took 5 hours on the same connection that takes my 360 15 minutes or less to download 2 demo's.. Sony has to fix this
if your using a motorola sb5101 modem, you should probably look intogetting a different one. My ps3 went from 2 mbps to over 15 just by switching the modem.
