I want to install a partitioned hard drive, its 160gb pretty much partitioned in half. If I replace my existing hard drive, will I be able to use both partitions? Or will I only be able to use one side? And if I use one side would I be able to copy like music/movies onto the other part? I have tried googling this and havent really found an answer.

i don't think sony allows people to have control over customizing hard drive partitions. once installed, it is all part of the ps3

Once you start-up the PS3 with the new HDD, it will automatically reformat it and you will lose everything on the HDD. You can't use partitions.
