owners of both consoles, how do you choose multiplats?

just wondering how owners of both consoles personally choose which system to get multiplats on. i know this is the ps3 board, but if you own both consoles you obviously like the xbox for something. how do you guys pick? or if you have a rule of thumb, what is it?

Almost all multi plat games, I will be getting for PS3. The only exception is when the 360 version clearly has an edge for whatever reason.

Reasons:

1) I'm less afraid of running my PS3 for extended periods of time than my 360.

2) One BluRay is easier to manage than multiple DVDs.

3) Online gaming on PSN is free.

4) The graphics on the PS3 versions will usually (not always though) have a slight edge over the 360 version.

5) I like the PS3 controller better than the 360 controller.

I get most multi-plats on 360. I choose 360 because I like the 360's controller more. It's much better than the DS3 IMO. The 360 version also usually has better graphics and a better framerate. I also prefer XBL to PSN and 360 versions usually get all the DLC. Sometimes 360 games get DLC months before PS3.

From now on I'll be buying my multiplats on the PS3 since I don't want to pay for XBL until GeoW3 comes out.

Well in the past I have gotten all my multiplats on xbox but since my xbox live expired I have been showing the ps3 some love. I probably won't renew my live until reach comes out.

PS3. I like the controller better, and I don't pay for XBox live. The only multiplat I bought for the 360 was Bayonetta, because everybody said it was superior on the 360.

I only buy the 360 version if it is clearly superior, like Bayonetta, or it's an online game and my friends plan on getting it. Otherwise I pick them up on PS3, it's the one I have the most games for so I can keep my collection and Trophies going, and as another user said, I don't trust my 360 to last as long as my PS3 and I don't like to leave it on for too long. If you want to compare versions of multiplats, Google "Digital Foundry" or "Lens of Truth" and go to their pages to find comparisons of multiplat releases. Usually it's minor, a couple of frames difference between versions, a little more screen tear on one or the other... it's usually not a glaring issue that makes the game any better or worse.

That's another reason. I'm not afraid of BD's getting scratched.

If the game has online and i've recently renewed my xbox live account then that's a big factor. Might as well play it on xbox seeing as im paying microsoft! But it also depends on how the game performs on each of the systems.

I ended up selling my 360, but before I did, I always got multi plats on the PS3 for the following reasons I overall prefer my PS3 (controls, etc) I wasn't afraid to run it for long periods of time PS3 discs are almost impossible to damage beyond use (when treating them properly) whereas XBOX's frequently destroy discs due to minor errors Gaming is free online It only takes 1 disc for games that would take multiple on other systems And all that jazz....I never touched my 360 so I sold it to add funds to my new guitar.

I always got them on the PS3 partly due to reliability troubles on that other console we shouldn't mention. There are some exceptions, like when the PS3 version is screwy (Orange Box) or it's part of a franchise I always played on the other console (Bioshock, Ass Creed).

I only get single player exclusives for my 360, all multiplats multiplayer games I get for my PS3 because I don't pay for XBL year around.

as has been stated by others already, I default to PS3 unless the Xbox 360 version of a game is clearly better.

I have both 360/PS3. As for multiplats.. if it's a shooter, I go with the 360 version because the controller feels more comfortable (due to trigger buttons). I mainly use my PS3 for exclusives and as a blu-ray player.

There really isn't a set way I choose, the 360 was bought mainly for Halo and Gears of War and I have bought a few multiplat games for it but looking over at my tv now, there are definitely more PS3 titles. Online play being free certainly helps, Bioshock got on 360 but Bioshock 2 got on PS3. I do worry about the reliability of keeping the other one on all the time but to be honest, I don't follow a pattern of buying multiplat on just one system.

i posted in here and not system wars because i wanted people's opinion on the ps3 forum, (meaning i wanted the opinion from people whose main console is the ps3)

it seems a little more people get most of the multiplats on the ps3. i'll check out those websites as well. im just asking because i got a ps3 recently, i like it, but all my games are on xbox (and all my friends play xbox) so i'm just trying to decide if i should start buying multiplats on the ps3. (next one would be RDR)

paying for live isn't that much of an issue for me, so it depends on which version performs better graphics, performance and overall better features, for example i picked up ACII for the ps3 even tough the 360 version supposedly had better graphics tough I had the psp version of AC and the psp sync thingy along with a fun plat to get (I havente opened ACII yet lol) made up my mind

5) I like the PS3 controller better than the 360 controller.

psyko0815

same but i think for multiplats the 360 usually has the slight edge

but i dont pay for online so its very rare i would get a game for the 360....personally i have a gaming pc so the only time i get a 360 game is when i cant get it on pc ie. fable2, gears of war 2 and dead rising...

lol i also won my 360 at a LAN tournament so i dont feel obligated to buy games for it

This, plus I like the smaller game cases of the PS3.

The only thing I get for XBOX are exclusives like Mass Effect.

I always by multiplatform games on the 360 because I just want to. I only don't if the game is infinitely better on the PS3. I buy all the exclusives for PS3 and 360 and buy what ever game I want that release for Wii (because there are just to many crappy third party exclusive games on Wii...).

I always choose for the PS3. Its my preferred system. I like it in pretty much every way over the others. The only thing I have the others for are their few exclusives that I actually want to play. Which really aren't very many.

I buy all multiplats on PS3 because i prefer the controller and PSN is free. (I dont play much online, so paying really isn't worth it for me.) The last game i bought for 360 was Gears of War 2 at launch. wasn't worth full price. Im still waiting for an exclusive 360 game im interested in.

I get all multiplat games for the 360 because for whatever reason the developers build the game using the 360 tech and port it to the PS3, the PS3 ends up getting the bad part of everything..such as washed out graphics or inconsistent framerate issues and other stuff. I use the PS3 for streaming and exclusives only.

most multiplats i buy on the 360 until rrecently (even with some older games, i went back and bought on the PS3) but usually its the 360 for multiplayer games since it just feels "right". im not a big fan of the ps3 controller for fps games so all fps's go there.

i go pc first. next it depends on the price and if or not the game in question is a part of a series. if i have any of the previous games on a specific console, then i continue the trend. if its not a series and not on pc, i go for achievements instead of trophies. i never feared switching discs but i normally install games on my xbox now, although still not required as it is often required of the ps3. the xbox live community is bigger than the psn and while it charges a fee, its a money sink i actually use. lastly, for shooters i prefer a mouse but if i have to use dual analogs i go with the 360 controller. dlc and anything else extra i pay for, i never take into account.

I buy PS3 exclusives, sports titles and platformers on PS3. Everything else I buy on 360. I'm a big guy and have huge hands, the 360 controller fits my hands perfectly, and I like the way the analog sticks are set, and the trigger buttons feel more like triggers. I however, helped that issue by buying a PS3 controller made by Dreamgear that is set up much the same way. It made a difference for me when playing Killzone and Resistance. Very cool!

currently been 360 exclusives and multiplats and ps3 for exclusives for me.

360 usually gets a lot more love from devs; and the game servers aren't run by third party servers

like how they are with psn.

I choose multiplats on my PS3, mainly because im just used to the controller (PS user since the PS1) Unless games like Bayonetta and Orange Box are better on the 360, I may get them on my 360. It really depends for me, if they are both equally good on both systems i get them on PS3 cause like i said im used to the controller.

I have my Wii for exclusives, which beat out the 360's exclusives by far. And my PS3 to do everything else.

By the way...this should really be in System Wars.

I dont choose. I play videogames on both consoles. Even as a full-time student and holding down a 40 hour work week.. I still manage on the weekends. This is a situation where you dont have to choose.

Then you would have to choose. If you want a multiplat game, which do you get it for? Or do you just choose randomly?

Eh sorry.. you caught me at a bad time. Moody as hell from all the dog barking in my neighborhood.. must move out..soon.. :( I'm sorry about that. If I want a multiplatform game, i will usually side with the platform that most of my friends play on competitvely. Seeing as how that goes, it is usually the Xbox 360. Ironically, my other friends/co-workers all play on PSN/PS3. Recently, I had to make a decision, and I went with Xbox 360. Because overall, I had more friends on XBL and friends in real life that played the Xbox 360. Technically, I had to choose, but other reasons swayed me as well. ;)

Btw, PS3 exclusives all the way. I collect them as well lol.
