When I get my PS3 this Friday is it safe to leave the switch on the back of the system on and just leave it in standby or does it still get to hot that way? Will it over heat?

I'm pretty sure the power switch in back is meant to stay on and the Ps3 should be kept in stand-by. Not positive but I'm trying to recall a post just like this awhile back..

I'm prettty sure its bad news to keep switching your PS3 on and off with that switch in back... and I know in the manual somewhere it will say more about it

Just put it in standby. It will not overheat. Pretty much every electronic that you leave in the wall - when you press the power button, it goes into standby.

On your PC when you select Turn Off Computer - it goes into Standby (The actual Standby option on your PC is different).

I turn it off after every use. My brother has a 60 GB that he purchased over a year and a half ago, and he always turns it off. It hasn't had any problems, though.

i leave it on stand-by mode...and i only turn the switch off, when there is a thunderstorm outside

someone in here, told me that turning the switch off( after standby-mode), completely cuts the flow of electricity, wich can be bad if you just finished playing, because the system is slowly cooling down

but...then again...thats what he said
