Hello,

summer is coming soon here and temperature in my room is getting up quickly making my PS3"s fan working much harder than usual. I found some cooling pads for laptops. They are powered just by USB port. My question is - can I use this kind of thing with my PS3? Will it work plugged into my PS3 USB port?

If anyone tried this, please tell me if it"s possible. Thanks.

Not really because the inlet vents are in front and exhaust vents are in the rear. The verybest way to help keep things cooler is just stand the PS3 vertical (don't need a stand for this) and make sure it's in a open area where the air can flow freely through the system. The cooling system of the PS3 is all that's really needed if you just follow a few simple steps.

My PS3 has been on 24/7 for over two years now without any kind of problems.

Yes it"s in well ventilated area. Maybe I"ll try that vertical stance. It"s not like my system is overheating but still I don"t like it working that much in these hot days.

I have one of these for my laptop at home and at first it worked pretty well but after a while the fan goes crazy loud and the only wait to make it stop is to beat it to death.

and no cleaning it doesn't really stop the noise.

It's a good fan, but it can get annoying sometimes.

put a house fan toward the front vent during play, the one by the usb holes, under the disc tray, this method never has my ps3 overheat, even in 90 degree heat after playing for 8 hours straight

Thanks for your replies guys. I"ll probably buy some regular fan for the front vent, it actualy makes sence as it sucks cool air in there.

Yeah, definitely use a normal fan just taking hot air from the PS3, because a laptop cooling pad wouldn't really pull air in any of the right places, although simply powering it through the PS3 would work.
