i've never really thought about it but i was just wondering do you guys recommend me turning off the console using the menu or is it ok to just keep my finger on the power button on the front of the console?

It's okay to use the I/O button on the front, though I recommend using the menu. Lately I've been using the new "Turn Off System" option above the users in the users column of the XMB (firmware 2.40+). It's probably better (like I'd know?), and best of all you don't leave more fingerprint smudges! :p

i mean you can use what ever i guess if you did it from the menu it would mean that the button would be less likely to break but then your not using it so it becomes irrelevant dont really matter

Well I think its about convinence cause I've noticed that when I turn it off through the menu, I can turn it back on using the PS button, but when I press the I/O button to turn it off, I have to press it again to turn it back on. So, whatever floats your boat I guess :| :D
