If when you turn the system on it stays on briefly, press the eject button as fast as you can to try and get the game back. Who knows if sony will send you a refurbed system or same one just repaired (meaning adios Ridge Racer 7)...

That sounds like there could be a problem with the power supply in which it would be a good idea to call Sony up. And as far as the game even if they send you another system Sony will send your game back to you (usually a few days after you get your system back). And as far as the disc being damaged there isn't much of a chance of the disc being damaged because the Blu-Ray disc is very hard and very hard to damage.

You don't have to turn the ps3 on to eject a disc. Just press the eject button while it is off and it should eject your disc. I do it all the time.

Ok, ill give u an advice: Call or Email SONY, or, take it to the place from where you bought it and ask the person if he/she knows whats up.

There are many reasons why this might happened to you, so there might be ways of fixin it.

GOOD LUCK and I hope you fix it.

try holding down the power button for ten seconds (well, keep your finger over the sensor that acts like a button) and it will reset to factory settings. Could be your settings are corrupted.

I never turn my PS3 off and the only time I take a disc out is when I change the disc for another disc, so leaving a disc in the drive shouldn't ba a issue. I was thinking of something else here and that is try seeing if one of the cables in back has happened to get pulled loose from the connection. Also sometimes electronics will come back if you unplug the main power cord and just leave it unplugged for a while (I think it allows the power supply time to cool down) that could have overheated because of a power spike or even a power drop beyond the usual fluctuation of AC power.

Did you ever get this fixed?

Did you fix it yourself or did Sony fix it? If Sony fixed it, how much did it cost and how long did it take? Ive got EXACTLY the same problem and im seriously considering going out to buy another ps3 right this second as i have 3 great new games to play!

A flashing red light does not mean its overheated, this happened to my PS3 and I contacted professionals to get a true response. If you get a continuous flashing red light after attempting to switch it on, it means the power supply has defected. The only solution is to take it to a shop for repair or buy a new one.

I just had this happen as well, I guess it is a defective power supply. I hope that is the case because I have an original 60GB system, and my warranty is out so I guess I gotta pay for it. Oh well, this is my first system to malfunction on me, guess it had to happen at some point.

I'm having the same problem. Can't turn on my PS3. Light goes green briefly, then the blue light next to it flashes and then it flashes red. Has anyone found anything out about this at al?? Seems it's happening to a lot of us.

ps. About this possibly being over-heating, i haven't used my PS3 in well over a month so very unlikely it's overheated.

The quickest fix for this problem is: Take a hammer and directly smash its face in. Cover it in an accelerant of some sort (alcohol, gas, etc) and just like in the movies toss a lit zippo out and throw it in slow motion. Let the plastic that was assembled in a sweatshop melt thoroughly before you go 1950s ganger on it with a tommy gun. Hope this helps. Buyers beware anything playstation or xbox. They both suck, ive seen many many many of both red ring and orange dot or just stop working without any signs of warning. Its wrong that people spend hard earned money on this crap (and money is harder and harder to get these days) just to get something that dies Just outside the warranty. Its poo ass crap. Dont buy dont fix. Quit giving them money and they will eventually lose.
