I had a problem with the "A" button on my 360 gamepad. Took it back to sams club to exchange just the controller but they insisted that I exchange the entire console. I paid $50 more and ended up with an elite. Ha!

one time in wal-mart i saw a very sad sony controller........both analog sticks were broken and sagging (the rubber was picked off the top of the sticks) and they didn't hold center in the controller anymore they were just a couple of floppy things on the controller and also there was a gaping crack on the left side of it......how does this happen to a display model controller?

ive already had 2 sixaxis controllers screw up on me
one controller has a messed up tilt its always tilting up there for i cant use it for uncharted, heavenly sword, warhawk etc...
and the second one has a slightly messed up left stick it doesnt seem to recenter itself properly somtimes and will get stuck in moving forward position

and before anyone flames me about not taking care of my controllers my orignal ps1 and ps2 controllers that came with my consoles are still in perfect shape(minus wear and tear)

I have had my 360 gamepad much longer and it still works.I have had my ps3 gamepad for less than 3 months and it breaks. It is a matter of I was unlucky enough to buy a faulty gamepad. Now its like fulshing 50 dollers down the toilet. And I bought that ps3 gamepad new!!!! Now i threw the recite awat long agoo,so might as well hope the Dualshock 3 improves on the sixaixis gamepads flaws.

on my controller both of the joysticks squeek, its so bad that people can hear it when i play online with a mic. then my buddy came over and his l2 and r2 triggers both stick, we were laughing pretty hard that we both have defective controllers. im hoping when the new rumble comes out that the old ones will be cheaper

If you decide you want another controller, hold out until the DUALSHOCK 3 comes out. I think it's sometime next month, in April.

It seems like a lot of people use brute force while playing games, then end up breaking something...

I've had my PS3 for over a year now, and my remote (the one that came with the console) is still good as new.

I had a controller that did that to me. I had to buy a new one...and that one did some very weird things...like my character moonwalked. I was playing Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Ryu was walking backwards instead of going in the direction I wanted him to go. I took it back again and I got a new one with no problems.

Technology isn't perfect though. :/

Mine still works but have noticed it slowly drifts forwards when im not touching it, all i do is just pull it back and let go and it re-centers itself. Im waiting for DS3 to come out before i buy a new one.

I have the same problem too. My left joystick doesn't work too perfect. it SOMETIMES works and SOMETIMES doesn't work.
I don't know if I'm unlucky this time or not, but I have NEVER experienced this problem with my ps2 controller..NEVER.

Within buying the ps3 and the controllers in 3 months, this is absolutely not acceptable on a consumer's point of view.
very disappointed...hopefully, DS3 is gonna be better.

My controller when I first got my PS3 was working fine until the left analog stick started getting stuck. Stuff break. Get a new one when you have the money.
