Um, not winning the "worst advertising" award is actually a success, not a loss lol. Yup I think it deserves it. The story actually made me get watery eyes at the end to be honest, any GAME that can do that is pretty impessive. lol
Not the best game ever made. Not in the top 3. Or 5. Not disappointed that it won GotY though. Very well made game, except for the storytelling. I hope that in his next game, Kojima gives us another stellar plot, but improves his lackluster storytelling abilities and adds in a lot more gameplay.

It is very deserving, however I highly disagree with that statement. I truly believe MGS3 was a better game.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is one of the greatest games I've ever played. Glad to see it get recognized for how great it truly is. Watching GS's 7+ minutes reasoning behind the award going to MGS4 in their GotY video makes me truly appreciate it even more, as well as making me want to play it again after replaying the crap out of it a few months ago.
I loved MGS4, I remember each and every moment that they mentioned in the video. This game is epic; it blends storytelling with gameplay almost perfectly. I cannot wait to find out what Kojima has in store!
mgs4 is overrated(not that i don't like it, i love it, but it isn't perfect and it's not the best game ever made) but it probably deserves gotyglennwinton
I really like people to tell me what does overrated mean? it is a great game we all know there is no game perfect or anything perfect, just because it got 10/10 doesn't mean it is perfect. I agree with you on not the best game ever made because there isn't.

There is no such thing as an "overrated" game because all game ratings and awards are opinions (except Technical Graphics, which is one hundred percent fact, and should have gone to Crysis Warhead.) He doesn't agree with the majority opinion of people on these forums that MGS4 is one of the best games ever.
Congrats Kojima and the team for developing an awesome game, that in my opinion after playing many of this years high calibur releases is definitely my game of the year.
metal gear solid 1 for the ps1 best game ever....2 scenes that made me get teary eyed...1 was when sniper wolf died and 2 when meryl died at the end...i had never got teary eyed on a game ever till i played the mgs series....i'm still working on mgs 3 and i bought mgs 4 when it first cameout but have yet to start it....i wanna finish mgs 3 first

I agree with you on not the best game ever made because there isn't. no game is perfect, but thats not why it's overrated. imo the story is to cliche(but not cliche in a good way like MGS3) and the gameplay is over-simplified what i mean by over rated is that the most common opinion of the game is that it's perfect/near perfect, also, MGO2 was disappointing, konami messed that up big time(mostly due to everything other than the gameplay)(and i loved MGO1 for the ps2, one of my favorite online games)

MGS3 had more emphasis on stealth, with its controls not being much use for runnin n' gunnin. Its story is definitely better, and its graphics are obviously inferior, but MGS4 had controls that were less sticky, and the "war zones" the game had were played out very well.
Rightfully deserved! I now look foward to MGS5 or a remake of MGS3 *please please pleaseTXMostWanted
I say remake MGS1. It deserves it. Technically, some of it is already done. I played through it during the summer this year. It was great but I feel I grew up in the wrong time period to truly enjoy everything. I was too young when it came out and by the time I could understand everything, it was dated, for the most part. Still one of the best games ever made. :D

MGS3 was an excellent game. Order for me: MGS4 MGS2 MGS3 MGS1 But all were so good, it's hard to choose! :D MGS2 blew my mind the same way MGS4 did. I still can't get over how awesome both of those games were. Keep in mind I played through all of them this summer! :P

MGS3 was an excellent game. Order for me: MGS4 MGS2 MGS3 MGS1 But all were so good, it's hard to choose! :D MGS2 blew my mind the same way MGS4 did. Keep in mind I played through all of them this summer! :P funny, cause i thought mgs2 was the worst game in the series( still good, but not amazing)
