Yup -- if you can still find an 80 gig in the MGS4 bundle, it's backwards compatible. But the new 80 gig models, sadly, are not.

yeah you have to find one of the old 20 or 60 gig model for full b/c they had the ps2 chip inside, the 80 is using a mix of hardware and software for b/c.

This is the same bundle that I bought and it definitely IS backwards compatible. It's actually in the item specifications on the amazon page. As for only working with 80% of games, I have yet to come across one that doesn't play perfectly.
