Leave it on standby. Usually with every electronic device it's better to have it on standby then unplugging and replugging it
you can leave it on standby if you wanted unplug it if you go on holiday or away for more than a week
Iv left mine on standby since i got it nearly a year ago and its fine. I mean they suggest you unplug it for the environment but who can be bothered to do that? Not me!
turn it off how? standby is turning it off unless you have an older model with the switch on the back and your turning it off that way. any ways thats tottally different than unplugging it.I always turn it off, not sure if it has any effect on the PS3.

I leave mine on 24/7. As long as the ventilation is good, you're fine. There is a school of thought that keeping a piece of solid state electronics at a constant temp instead of the unit heating up and cooling down again will make the machine happier over the long-run, as the expansion and rarifaction of a circuit is what actually wears the components out faster.
no thats not true. the manual that come with the ps3 slim states clearly that igf the system is not to be used for a long time to unplug it from the wall. as others have said,if your going to be playing every day or every other day then just put it in stand by mod. if your not expecting to play it for a few days or weeks you can unplug it.The PS3 slim only has a standby button, no power button on the back, so I'm assuming that that's Sony's way of telling you to keep the system on Standby when you're not using it, as opposed to shutting it completely off.

Treat it as you would your computer. I haven't actually shut off my laptop in over an year--and the only reason I turn my desktop off is because the noise would drive me crazy. (Well, I don't actually turn it off, just let it sleep of I'm not downloading anything).

Bah, if that were the case I would be fighting with my hydro company
That's one reason I leave my system on 24/7. The same theory also works the same way on other machines as well. Think about it have you ever heard a locomotive engine that's not running anywhere when you walk by. Those engines are never shut off and run that way for years without a problem. Less thermal stress is good for anything that creates any kind of heat when in use is the best thing to do.I leave mine on 24/7. As long as the ventilation is good, you're fine.
