The original AC was one of the most boring gaming experiences I've ever had, but I can't help but feel excited for the next one. The trailers have all really impressed me. Am I just hoping against hope that it will be a significant improvement?

Well, the main problem with the first installment of the Assassin's Creed series was its lack of gameplay variety. The gameplay mechanics were there, but there just really wasn't a broad range of missions to take part in. From what I have seen and heard about AC II, they have focused much attention to variety. So I am betting that it will be a great improvement over the first game.
What I found very promising about the gameplay videos was the fact that you can play in night-time environments. I never understood why an assassin would work during the day in plain sight. I also like the fact that you are unarmed, and you get your weapons by disarming enemy guards. In addition, I think the Renaissance time period will lend a much better atmosphere to the game than the bland, desert environments of the first game.
So yes, I do plan on purchasing AC 2, despite the fact that I didn't really enjoy the first one.
totally agreed.im excited about AC2.... the original had a great story even though the gameplay were so repetitive

Not particularly, the first one bored me to tears, but i'll remain open minded and porbably rent it first Which is what i should have done with the first
I thought AC was super boring put I just beat it for the story. I don't know if I will get AC2 though.
I actually loved AC until it got to the point where it was boring. I never got the chance to even come close to finishing it because it got boring real quick. The trailer for part 2 looks great though and I am thinking about picking it up when it is released.
Assassin's Creed 1 was great, very reptitive though. I heard there will be more things to do in Assassin's Creed II so it'll less reptitive as the first one.
The trailers for the first one all really impressed me too. I will be more smart this time and rent it first. The original AC was one of the most boring gaming experiences I've ever had, but I can't help but feel excited for the next one. I'm trying not to fall for Ubisoft's hype machine again. The only thing what was truly great about the first game, was the story. I`m looking forward how it is going to turn out.
just began AC and already angry at the false freedom, you can "save villagers" and "go to next viewpoint" to "see new missions" but it's only 100% repetitive and not real freedom. I blame the X360 with the small DVDs that won't allow each setting to have their own different mission styles.
wtf...if you didnt played assassin creed so why you buy ps3!!!!
its a great game like MGS4 iam just waiting AC2;)

i have taken a look at his post history, i think its a joke account...
anyway, yah the game was repetitive, but when you turned the map off, everything got more intense, and it was a better game imo.
Wow....Assassin's Creed was great, but it wasn't amazingly perfect like MGS4.if you didnt played assassin creed so why you buy ps3!!!!

Agreed. But the beggar women were the worst.Hopefully. the onlookers have learned how to shut up. They could be so annoying at times.

I wouldn't say I disliked AC, but I did get bored of it much quicker than most games. AC2 has got my attention as it does look like a vast improvement so far, as long as they fix the controls and add more mission variety I will gladly add it to my collection.
I'll just have to wait and see..
I laugh at all the people who bought into the hype, played Assassin's Creed, didn't like it and are doing it again.
I hope Assassin's Creed II disappoints you.

The funny thing is, I was never hyped for the game in the first place. My girlfriend wanted to play it because of the trailer so we went and bought a pre-owned copy...
She still hasn't played it yet
