I was wondering if i install YDL on my PS3 i will be able to watch dvix, mkv, and all these formats the PS3 doesn't support. In case you are wondering why i would want to do such a thing if i already have a computer the answer is simple, my computer doens't have an HDTV atached to it.

Yes, you can do that, if you manage to install a media player, that plays these files. I for one will install (just like in Windows) Videolan Client, or VLC in short. This one plays nearly all avaible codecs, no hassle, no problems and has the option (though illegal in the US due to DMCA) to play DVDs with libdvdcss2. I cant tell yet, how easy or hard it will be to install VLC in YDL yet, because my PS3 is still in oblivion (I live in Germany) and is yet to arrive here, 6:00AM on March 23rd.

It shouldn't be a problem to install VLC, unless the YDL for PS3 is very early in development or something. Many Linux distros today are very user friendly.
