i think the 60gb still has the EE chip and cost 500$

where as the 80gb has no EE chip and costs 600$ but comes with a copy of motorstorm and ofcourse 20extra gigs.

i would get the 60gb since itll work better with ps2 games and its 100$ less.

I've owned both versions of the PS3 (I currently have the 80GB model) and the only difference is the backwards compatibility.

I tried Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal and the game ran at about 50% speed. The software emulation needs some work....at least for that game. I'm going to try out GOW II soon and see how it runs.

I recommend getting the 60 Gig version too. It cost $100 less than the 80GB one, plus the 60gig one has the emotion Engine still built in the console. Emotion engine for the PS3 is the chip to allow backwards compatibility (PS1 and PS2)to work through hardware. To kill costs, they removed the chip in the 80 GB version, thus following the footsteps of Microsoft in making backwards compatible via software Emulation.

If you want more memoy for your PS3 Hard drive wise, you can easily upgrade it by grabbing any laptophard drive and installing it. 2.5 inch hard drivesthough, don't grab 3.5 inch hard drives... they won't fit ;)!

The 60 gig version from the NA region is the best deal because of the EE chip that's still in the console.
