Ive had my 60gb since launch, and it is still running great. Ive been through two 360's. In my opinion the PS3 is solid.

Well, I don't own a 360. But my PS3 was the first console to ever crash on me. I had a 60 gig launch model (or close to launch anyways).

38% pecent versus 0.5% fail rate.

conclusion: really reliable.

I have owned all three consoles for about a year each, with the PS3 being my latest (got it about a year ago, so its not slim, its the model before it) and greatest! I love the PS3 and it is IMO the best console this gen by a long shot. I had my 360 fail on me and freeze a lot, the funny thing is, once it failed it came back to life and seemed better then ever lol. The PS3 has frozen a couple times (not A LOT) over the hundreds of hours I have put into it, but otherwise it has been solid. The Wii was always solid.

basically it goes Wii > PS3 > 360

Could your PS3 fail? Yes it could, but it is better then the 360's reliability. I say get it and buy it somewhere you can get a 3 year warranty, but thats me.

While both of those figures are false, the PS3 is indeed reliable. Nothing to worry about.

my 40gb laser wont read but i jus fix it.

if ps3... it is still fixable but if 360 broke.... it is permanent. and very low percentage of ps3 broke outside of laser lense.

plus ps3 disc is scratch resistance thanks to blu ray scratch resistance technology! feel pity for 360 owners risking scratching their disc.

and ps3 got better exclsives than 360. and ps3 plays bette ron fighting game cause of awesome place of directional pad.

Very reliable. The 360 have the biggest electronic recall in history prize to its name. Speaks for itself.

My 60GB model YLOD on me. It's now a very expensive $600 paperweight until I fix it or replace it with the Slim. I've heard that the PS3 Slim is solid. Go nutz with that, 120 or 250GB. But uh with any electronics or anything man made, it's not perfect. It will die eventually.

The slim's are very reliable, even after hours of gaming mine doesn't heat up at all. Don't get a fat though, my friend bought one recently (think it was 80gb) and had to send it back for repair within a week of purchase because it stopped reading discs.

I have the original 60GB and Slim. Both versions had been working well.

The console is very reliable.

It's very reliable. I've owned my Ps3 for 2-3 years and I've had absolutely no problems, hardware wise. If you get one, you really shouldn't expect it to break down at all really. Great quality.

Not neccassarily. Like i said, I have an original 80 gig fat, CECH01 and it has never hiccupped or had a problem. So becasue your freind bought a used one off of eBay that was ready to die does not mean that all the original 80 gigs are bad becasue that is just not true. The Original 80 gigs are pretty rock solid, its hte 60 gig fats oy ahve to worry about.
