Help!! 512kbps fast enough for ps3 online gaming?

I,m really looking forward to the ps3 launch and can't wait to go online with it but my broadband connection aint going to get any faster, i'm stuck with 512kbps (56kb transfer rate),so if any one can help me out and tell if this speed going to be fast enough!!...thanx.

Your going to get lag, but it'll suffice. I had a connection of 40 kb a second, and it worked fine. Expect a ping of like 180, which is acceptable. Just remember that downloads will be slow, but you knew that.

512kbps is good enough for online gaming. Just don't host any games and do anything else with the connection when playing online. Are you sure you have 512kbps? What service is that?

Yeah I agree, You'll have no trouble playing games but Hosting is totally out for you.

I'm happy enough with that at least i can participate i aint botherd about hosting. this will be my first experience of online gaming and it will do untill i get faster broadband....cheers for the comments

Well, you should really try for a better internet.  That one sucks, to be frank.  Playing with a slower internet won't be as fun, I mean it's the PS3, come on.  Besides, surfing the internet with a slow connection is a drag.

Online gaming does not require much bandwidth and internet browsing will be decent with those speeds. What will be slow is downloading large files and you shouldn't host online games because it will lag. A 128k connection is actually all that is needed for online gaming.

does anyone here use verizon online???....I'm switching from optimum online. I wanted to know how is verizon. Main question: Will i get lag?.. lol

EDIT: BTW They sent me some flyer type thing(like i didn't already buy the service) and it says 3.0 mbps. Is that fast or slow?

you will be a happy gamer thats fast ....well faster than my connection ( six times faster) and my connection at 512kbps is just about getting away with it.
