Haze EDGE Preview: 'an excellent game that dares to treat us like adults'

"Perhaps Haze still looks a little underwhelming in places, and perhaps the cry of 'political game' will scare players away. It's neither. Haze looks like being, first and foremost, a brilliant current-generation shooter debut for Free Radical. Alongside that, there are individual scenes featuring subject matter few other pieces of entertainment go near. If Haze's excellent design is sustained throughout, then alongside it's new narrative territory it may be that rarest of beasts: an excellent game that dares to treat us like adults."

This is comming from EDGE magazine who are VERY critical (they just gave Army of Two a 4/10). I think some previews are mixed but the majority of them for HAZE are saying it's going to be a very good game all around with lots of content. Can't wait for May 22nd!

Haze looks awesome, plain and simple. I hope a demo or something releases cause I really wanna play it....And yeah AoT deserves at least an 8...I played it by a friend and it rocks!

Seeing as AoT got a 4 from these guys, they must not be very critical at all. That game was a 3 at best and a 1.5 at worst. It was lackluster and certainly not anywhere near what we've come to expect from this generation of gaming.Brucisidro92288

One problem that Haze did was realease to many sample videos when the game was not finished making people doupt its potential, but I can not wait till may 22!!

They gave Halo 3 a 10 and the "Innovative" game award. Known to be critical? Really?

some nice info..but i really think we all just have to wait till that day. i have my hopes up, VERY high. i think this game will be awesome. Heres to May 22nd! *Pops open Corona* :)

i have always had good feelings for this game for a few reasons

1) it's made by the golden eye n64 and time splitters team both golden games in there own right

2) four player co op i am curious how many people would agree split screen makes games more fun for me warhawk is/was better split screen on-line than only one person another one for me was halo 1-2 were also more fun going through the levels with a friend. even a really simple game like Lego star-wars just press start and pop in was great

3) so far it seems your enemy's are humans in most sci fi shooters nowadays its aliens/mutants and it gets a little bit tedious

4) it hasn't gone for looking the best award if gta4 graphics are good enough this is too its just that simple

Publications usually preview games highly so people buy the magazine/go to the site to read the review. It's done all the time, when was the last time you read a BAD preview?-Sniper99-

Most previews of Haze have been relatively negative.

I liked the Edge magazine, though I only have the MGS4 mag from the spanish edition but they also have some bad points, though I dont know if the english edition doeskenshinhimura16

No, that game ****ing sucks!!

i have always believed Haze would be an excellent but not innovative shooter. This game has all the hallmarks of a solid 8: Free Radical (developers behind goldeneye, perfect dark, timesplitters), 4 player "hotswap" coop, multiplayer with bots and asymetric warfare, two distinct playstyle, a story relevent to today's politics (oddly dealing with the same issue as Ao2 and MGS4, PMC), humor, and a game that even challenges games themselves ( the mediated view of the world). May 20th is marked on my calendar

BTW: Army of Two deserves a 7.25, its an 8 if you play splitscreen but 6 if you play alone.
