How do you beat the Boss?  What is the trick?

I have tried many different combo's and he won't die.

 I went thru the tips and tricks, and can't find anything to help me beat them.

Beat Joe Perry in a Guitar Battle in Career Mode, This is the battle that I am trying to win.  Can not seem to get it right.
