Alright about a month ago my playstation 3 decided to get a disk read error, and stop reading discs all together. I called sony, took them over 2 weeks to get me a box. So its been two more weeks and I finally received my Brand New 80 gig with motorstorm. I was so suprised that I got a brand new ps3 packaged. I gave my other copy of motorstorm to my housemate. It was definitely worth the wait. Now Im sitting in class eager to get out and play skate and warhawk... :-D
Unless it was a fatal error that came with your PS3. Except to get another disc read error. Keep the console and the area around it clean. (Smoking is the leading cause of console death)
it would be great to get a new 80 gb ps3 if you had one with a smaller hdd before but the only thing i wouldnt like about it is that all your game data would be erased but glad to hear you got your ps3 back :)

not really, the extra backwards compatability in the 60gig is better tahn 20 extra gigs imo.
op i got a question. so it took you a month to get your ps3 back? cuz my ps3 also did the disk read error just recently and i just called sony this sunday, oh and also what was the model that got messed up? the 60 gig one? and they replaced it with an 80 gig? id appreciate the reply.

I bought and 80 gig model with motorstorm, and they gave me a brand new 80 gig with motorstorm. So now I have two motorstorms
I've been a little worried about disc read errors, i have several friends who bought ps3's at launch in the u.k and after around 4-5 months 2 of them got the dreaded dre error around the same time.
I got my ps3 in august and its been fine but i've had bad expierences with disc read errors on ps2 in 2 years from the ps2's launchi had to have 4 ps2's replaced/repaired by sony and i had to pay for 2 of them, but my 5th ps2 was a charm and worked fine for years untill i got a slim ps2.
It's like each console has there signature fatality except wii since it uses last gen tech it doesnt have to worry about over-heating.
Although this gen it seems sony have done something right and the dre errors are a rare case.
i have the 60 gig one. and im really hoping they'll give me the same model cuz i really want the bc for it. i really hope tho that it wont take a month for me to get a new one.

I got mine in 1 week and i forgot to send my controller. So they sent me a new ps3 with a new controller. So now i have 3 controllers for the price of two.;)

i dont buy that. i smoke around my PS2/PS3/360 no problems. got the disc read error once and i fixed it my self. you know what it was? dog hair! the leading cause of dsic read error is dust and animal hair.
thats not fair, when i returned mine they gave me back a refurbished, they said they never give out new ones. It might be a 80gig refurbished, cause i thought mine was new too, because everything was sealed and perfect, but when i called them after i got it, they said its refurbished.
