I know that they are having an update but I don't think flash 9 is part of the package.

Flash 9 means that I can watch shows on Hulu, NBC.com, Fox.com and movies on Nexflix without my computer hooked up to my TV. Yippee!

No this blog entry. Why would they just leave out such a huge feature? I can't imagine they just forgot about it.

It says in the latest entry that there is Flash 9 in the update.
On a related note, the PS3 firmware update (2.50) will add Flash Player 9 support to the PS3 Web browser, so you'll be able to actually watch this video (and all of our blog videos) on your PS3 once the firmware goes live!

My guesses would be either wanted to surprise people with it, or maybe it was still in the final testing stages and wasn't cleared at the time of that blog post.

sony should just have mozilla make a version of firefox for ps3 so that the web browser works right.

While I agree with you, Adobe would still have to make a Flash plugin, again, for this new web browser. If they can't even make 64-bit Flash drivers I don't see that happening anytime soon.
