External Hard Drive Installation Tutorial (5 easy steps!)

A person like me needs an external hard drive (EHD). I nearly used up all 60gb on mostly movies =] Here's a tutorial on how to install EHD on your Playstation 3. I am posting it here and linking to other sites to help others I noticed need help.

Why?

Some people are having issues installing EHD to their ps3, especially NTFS and FAT32 conversions.

You need:

-PS3

-USB cable

-About any external hard drives

-PC

-SwissKnife V3 (Dl it here http://www.compuapps.com/Download/swissknife/swissknife.htm)

External Hard Drive for the PS3 Installation Tutorial

1)Connect EHD to PC

2)Right click My Computer, select Manage. Then Disk Management.

3)Select your EHD, and format to FAT32 (If you only see NTFS don't panic, this is where Swissknife comes into play)

4)Open Swissknife

5)The rest is pretty much self explanatory, select your EHD and format it to FAT32

When this is all done, connect it to your ps3 and see if it reads it (which it should if you did all above)

I have yet to use an external HDD for my ps3 but i hear that you cant save demos on it.. will this process allow me to do so?

np. no you can't save demos in it, it goes directly into the internal hard drive.

just wondering, will there be any "side effects" if i formal my EHD to fat32? my EHD is a Maxtor 250GB. Will the capacity still be 250GB?
