The intercoolers are just a cash-in from Intec and others making similar products on gamer's paranoia about overheating consoles. If anything, these create more heating inside as they block part of the vent that pushes the warm air out. You do NOT need this in the least unless you want to turn your PS3 into a doorstop over time. Plus, if the system breaks down and Sony finds out this was on there your warranty is kaput.

I'll put it simply:

Intercooler + PS3 = Useless intercooler.

stay the F away from Intercool and other non sense, its a scam for ps3 owners and a gift from the devil for the xbox360 owners.

Short answer : No

Long answer : No. PS3 only overheats in extreme conditions, or if it's a lemon.

The PS3 has a thermal shutoff built in so the answer is no.

The PS3 can never overheat, unlike the Xbox 360.
