So, this game peaked my interest at first and I just got done watching some gameplay on YouTube and to be honest it looks a little boring. Seems to focus more on the element of mazes and collecting things than any surprise or horror of being alone in an institution with only glowsticks and a map at your disposal.

This is based purely off the first 20 mins of gameplay that I've seen, however. Has anyone played this game yet? Does it get better? Is it worth the $10?

Note: I do like creepy first person games like this. Condemned was good, but I didn't care much for Outlast (if that helps any).

3/10. Enough said. The game is not even worth 1 cent.

What a shame. Glad I didn't waste the money.

I know you said that you didn't like outlast, but at least it better reviews from gamers and reviewers.

Yeah, but outlast was also the free game of the month, so no harm no foul there.

There are mixed reviews. I took a chance and got in on PS4, since I enjoyed Outlast. Isn't as bad as Gamespot make out. Headphones on loud, dark room, makes it pretty scary.
Maybe the reviewers are not playing it properly with just headphones and in the dark.

@digitm64:

How is the story though? Ultimately, that's what will hold my interest over the ambient elements.

I was interested in it until I found out that Jessica Chobot was the writer. Then I saw some game play footage and realized it looks really stupid. So interest lost.

The story sux. Is there one, it's confusing. So the reviews are spot on there. I just think the reviews are a bit harsh, the game does suck you into it's ambience well. I don't know who Jessica Chobot is, all I can gather from the net is she is hated by most.

One thing for sure is I am def enjoying Child of Light better (when comparing recent releases)

lol...yeah, even though it's been months since I touched it. Ironically a relative who's in the market to get a PS4 was asking me about it the other day.

That was the other game I was going to ask about. I'm not a big RPG fan, but the game seems to have some adventure elements to it. Is it best suited for the "turn-based RPG" fans?

If you enjoy story, with awesome graphics, and love leveling up party members with RPG elements then it's perfect. Something about this game I can't put my finger on, it has really drawn me in. I was going to spend about an quick hour playing it last night, but 4 hours later I was still playing without any break. And even then I just wanted to continue. The simple elements of leveling up your party, collecting items, the visual beauty, the sound, and the story just sucks away all absence of time from your life without you knowing it.
