Can you save PS1 games on the PS3 Harddrive?

I have the 40 gig version. Was wondering if i HAD to get the memory card adapter plug-in. Or can i (hopefully) just save directly to my hardrive? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

it'll save it direct to your hard drive but you need to create one

I think so.......you have the 40 gig I have the 80 gig so I don't want to tell you anything wrong.........
