I enjoyed advanced warfare quite a bit more, but the online is dead for ps4. I assume worse could be said about ps3. If you are wanting to play online get black ops3. For the stories? They both don't stray too far from a typical cod story.
Advanced Warfare was really meh for me. Played through the campaign once, nothing new there, and maybe put in 8 hours for the multiplayer. Didn't particularly like the game. I have yet to play Black Ops 3, but from what I have heard and seen (in terms of gameplay videos), it looks good. Much better than Ghosts or Advanced Warfare. I'm talking about Black Ops 3 on the PS4 though. The PS3 version sucks, from what I've heard and seen.
I might be one of the few Advanced Warfare fans. They game is dead online now but I really liked it. It was the first COD I've put a decent amount of time in since the first black ops. I thought the exo suits were cool, they guns where fairly balanced and encouraged different play styles. I also really like 3 of 4 zombie maps. My room mates and I still love playing it's zombie mode.
Advanced Warfare was horrible online, as far as I'm concerned, every single match was skill-based. I averaged 4 k/d, 500+ score per minute in BO2. Went on to Advanced Warfare, took some time to learn everything, and even with all my tips & tricks the best I could manage was a 2kd. Almost immediately traded AW in.
BO3 has been a much more satisfying experience (even though I think Treyarch slipped in skill-based matchmaking after that 9GB update). Both these games get on my nerves with these jet packs but other than that, BO3 is my second favorite CoD, behind the infamous Lag Ops 2
