It gives you a very quick recap of what happened in the first two when you start brotherhood, but like most people, you're better off playing at least the 2nd one since this picks up right from there.

Play the first one, then the second, then brotherhood. Gives you more appreciation for the series and the games.

Why rush and jump on the band wagon suddenly? Take the time, play 1 then 2 and finally Brotherhood, in order, like it was meant to be. More appreciation for the series that way. The first two are wicked cheap now so price isn't an issue

i agree with everyone else and that you should jusst play the first 2. we likely wont see another assassins creed until 2012 anyways so time is not a issue. also the games to me have got better with each one so you should not get bored either.

Read what happened in AC1 (not worth the frustration), play AC2 (it's super cheap now and WAY awesome), and then play ACB.

Why do people always bash Assassin's Creed? The first one when it originall came out was brand new and amazing. Yes the second game came along and improved on a lot. But that doesn't mean the first one should be tossed aside, it has many outstanding qualities and is a great game

First one is boring and repetitive compared to the second one. If you can skip it, you can, AC1's story isn't all that significant compared to AC2 (and Assassin's Wiki is very helpful). But if you want to play it, you need to play it before AC2 otherwise you will be bored halfway.

"First one is boring and repetitive compared to the second one."

Yes that is true now, but what about when it was the first one out, and only the first one. The game was new and innovative and fun, despite some points of repetitiveness. The game had its many high points, the music, the scenary, the growing of Altair are all important to the franchise. Obviously this person hasn't played any of the games yet, so they won't find it boring compared to II if they've never played II.

TC, take my advice, play the games in order. They were made that way.

You really need to play the second one to get a good idea of what's going on.

So? That's not relevant because now we have both AC2 and AC:B. And I even said if you want to play AC1, you will have to play it before AC2 otherwise you will be bored. I do like AC1, but if TC was short in money and couldn't afford both, I would say just skip AC1 because AC2 is obviously a better experience.

I agree with the people who are saying to just read up on the story of the original. It's mind-numbingly boring. You end up doing the exact same things ad nauseum whereas the second one is much more varied and will actually be enjoyable beyond the first 2 hours. If you play the first one, before the other two, it might put you off the series altogether.

You should play 2, the ending is amazing. Skip 1, it's boring as hell.
