No really I bought a PS3 superslim when it launched. The power supply died 21 days later. Sony replaced the console without any difficulty. This is the first time a PS3 console died brand new on me. The PS3 phat and the regular PS3 slim did not die after 21 days. The PS3 superslim however was not very well built. It may be better to get a regular PS3 slim instead.
You're lucky and I'm happy for you. That doesn't mean Sony makes electronics to last and they have not done for about 30 years.
I have an original 60 gb PS3, it's fucked. Along with the launch PS4 I bought my father. When I was a kid I went through 3 expensive walkmans and 2 mini disc players and the screws just fell out of them. 2 Sony phones where the vibrate function just rattled them apart.
They have an old wives tale in Japan that says Sony put a timer in all their products that cause it to fail after that warranty runs out.
