I'm definitely buying a PS3 sometime soon around the release of MGS4. I just need one question answered.

Where I live, in Sweden, we don't even sell 60gb PS3's. What I'm aware of is that the 60gb has the ability to play PS1/PS2 games, but I have my PS2 for that so it's no issue. So I was wondering if the 20gb actually made any difference?

I'm going to guess that you're talking about the PAL 60 GB versus the PAL 40 GB model. The PAL 60 GB model has 4 USB ports, a media card reader, and PS2 compatibility is done by using software emulation of the PS2's Emotion Engine RISC CPU and by including the actual Reality Synthesizer GPU. The PAL 40 GB model has 2 USB ports, no media card reader, and lacks the PS2 compatibility. Both play PlayStation games. If you are talking about the NTSC 60 GB model the only difference between that and the PAL model is it includes a physical Emotion Engine RISC CPU. This allows for better PS2 compatibility.

No, no, let me restate that. I didn't mean the 20gb version. What I meant was does the 20gb (40gb - 60gb) difference actually matter? You have to install PS3 games, right? So how much space does one game take?

I'm a Swede as well and got an imported 80gb Japanese Unit from Tradera, I would have to say the extra storage space is pretty useful especially when some games requires to be installed and it's also pretty nice to store other useful media that might you hold dear. You can even stumble upon a 60gb EU unit on Tradera aswell and get it for a fair price of luck is on your side. But yeah I believe there is no difference bettween the 40 and 60gb version except the amount of storage and that the fact the 40gb version cannot play PS2 games. My 80gb can do that though I have to import the games from places such as Play-Asia as only the PS3 games are region free, but it's not too much of a hassle.

if you want a little extra space then get the 60 if you want to buy it online and have it shipped. If not then go with the 40 gb. There's going to be a new 80 gb mgs4 bundle coming out in june here in the u.s. so you can buy that online if you want to wait till then.

In Sweden I think the only option you guys are getting unfortunatly is the 40 gig for your region and not only does it not have PS2 game support, it also only has two USB ports where the 60 and 80 gig had four. And the 40 has no card readers like the 60 and 80 does. As for the HDD size it really makes no differenece because you can use any 2.5 SATA HDD to replave the HDD you happen to get, I think I have seen soom 350 gig HDD's that will fit the PS3.

I hope this was of some help.

Quote him on that 20GB has no wifi compatibilty has to be plugged in using the ethernet cable and it has no compact flash drive/memory card slots everything else is the same as the 60/80.

The 40 gig PS3 only has 2 USB ports on the front and it has no backwards compatability with the PS2. The 60 gig has 4 USB ports and full backwards compatability. IT hs hard to find now, though/ Whjen MGS4 comes out, you are better off wit hteh 80 gig
