If you can find one on Amazon or Ebay just get the 2000. No screen issues EVER. Hey, some minor ghosting is better than scanlines. In racing games, the ghosting is a nice effect also.
The improvements in the 3000 are minimal. The scan line issue won't be something you notice until you get a side by side comparison, and it's pretty much a detail thing. The 3000 has an onboard mic which is pretty much useless to me since I prefer a headset mic. If you're going to be paying the same price there isn't much of a reason to buy the 2000 (unless scanlines are going to bother you that much), but since many places sell the 2000 for $20-$40 cheaper it's a much better bargain.
As usual TC, try to sift through the fanboy responses.
Here are the actual differences between the systems -
The 3000 has an improved color gamut/color space setting.
The PSP 3000 is brighter, it's new screen setting can also be toggled off. It has an anti glare screen.
The 3000 can output to an interlace and progressive TV now (games movies etc) The 2000 can only output games to a progressive tv.
The 3000 has an auto USB connect feature.
The 3000 has an internal microphone.
The thumb stick of the 3000 is slightly higher, the buttons, slightly stiffer than the 2000.
The 3000 has a bit more concave, rounded edges, buttons etc.
Pick the model that feels right for you, just remember when asking on forums like this that not every user responding even owns the system.
Hope this helped..

The 3000 has an auto USB connect feature. So does the 2000
The 3000 has an internal microphone. Good point :D

Progressive scan = HDTV
Interlace is usually an older, non HDTV. The 2000 can't output games to those. Yeah I couldn't remember if the 2000 had the auto USB/charge thing or not. Been a while since I owned one.
Anyways wasn't referring to you specifically, just in general you know? Everyone's fav seems to be the one they own.
Important to put the facts out there..

Thanks man this helped. I think I'll get the 3000.The scanlines are not a problem worth mulling over. Don't worry about it and just get the 3000. The only people I've ever seen complain about the issue are people who don't own a 3000.I thought the scanline problem was fixed. This sucks. Is the ghosting on the 2000 model real bad?

lol scanlines i bought a psp 3000 and barley notice them but i can notice how much the better colour on the 3000 more.if u have a psp 3000 switch the colour setting while ur in the xmb and u will notice the colour of the background different.

Agreed.
if you want a simple psp the 2000 is good for you cheaper
but if you want a better psp with better screen colours and bluetuth and that stuff is better for you the 3000
but warning the 3000 series psp ´s have more screen problems and less batery than the psp 2000
happy help!:)
