well if you are worried about not having enough space, you could just replace the HDD, i thnk you could get like a 120 gig for 100 bucks or something like that.

theoretically, you could run out of space on the 20GB PS3 just by game saves. But it would probably take upwards of 300 game saves(guestimation) before filling up.

Well in theory: the 20gig = 1024mo x 20= 1024kb x 1024mb x 20gb = 20 971 520kb

Let's say 1mo/games (I know most are not that much) so it gives 20 480 save games

That's impossble of course as the "20gb" is not really 20gb and you need space left for the ps3 to run (like the 150mb resistance install before playing) and it's without movie, music, picture, demo

Pretty much that

You'll have enough for save games, a few installs, some demos and a trailer. If you delete stuff after your done with it, 20GB could work for you. Unless they start a HD video service like XBL, then even the 60GBs are a bit sparce. Nice thing is, any 5400 RPM 2.5" SATA HDD will wok in the PS3. It's not like you have to buy a propriatary HDD.

I just bought a 120 GB HDD for $130, just so I never have to worry about space.  (Made sure to get 5400 rpm)

if I am not mistaken, when you remove a game, the PS3 automatically deletes any "cached" game files for that game. if it doesn't, you can easily delete them yourself. and notice that the topic poster said that they are only interested in games and not "all that other stuff". so no need to talk about demos, movies, music, or pictures, since those won't be taking up space on his PS3.

guys, he specifically states that he only wants to play games and that he doesn't care about all the other stuff. no need to talk about downloading demos and trailers and movies since he won't be doing any of that.

Well... 20g should be enough just for game saves.

Does not change the fact that you need to keep some memory empty but yes you can erase those file, but from what i saw they are not erase automaticaly (not resistance at least) you have to do it manually. They are in a folder into the game area in the XMB.

You would never have to worry about running out of space if you solely used it for game saves.

20 gig's are more than enough. I have the other system for well over a year and still have 10.5 gig's left and I have played well over 40 games since day 1. I have had my ps3 since dec and have 18 gigs avail, yes I only have 3 games but I have more than enough.

You can fill those 20 GB with just 3 games and all those firmware updates, I checked my free space and there are about 7 GB missing, i assume they were filled with updates, but i can't tell for sure. Anyway, most of great titles have mandatory installs, most of them being around 4 GB average, so, watch out with your choice unless you don't care upgrading your HDD

 the 7 gigabytes missing is the operating system...
