2.5, sata, 5400 RPM the standard for the PS4?

I want more room on my HDD and I don't want to download anything until I install at least a TB drive(this includes the day 1 patch). I've been reading that the HDD are the same as the PS3 which were SATA, 2.5, 5400. I'd like to order a TB drive with the same specs but I'm afraid of getting burned and having to wait until I get an alternative drive shipped if the first one isn't optimal/compatible. The biggest rub is that time is running out, I'd rather not pay 12+ extra dollars for express shipping if I can get free 4 day shipping.

Anyone come across a list/post of what's optimal for replacing the PS4 launch HDD?

check ebay some sellers do Free Shipping, also you have to make sure the HDD is no bigger than 9.5 mm, the biggest HDD you can get is 1.5TB

I still don't get why people replace a 5400rpm drive with another 5400rpm, its basically the same price for 7200rpm.

Not sure about the PS4, but I think there were other components on the PS3 that would bottleneck a 7200RPM drive anyways, so you were getting no performance increase but extra heat. Not worth it.

No idea where people got this information from but I use an SSD in my PS3 and games with large installs do get a improvement, eg GTA5 and GT5

thx for that info. Out of curiosity, if there is any noticeable difference when you are actually playing a game as far as load times. I'm not concerned about install times, but if an SSD improves in game performance I may look into that. Thanks!

I cant say for GTA5 as I haven't used a HDD for it ever, I would guess my load times are way less than HDD users. For GT5 it helped a lot, I don't wait for races to load, its about 5 secs vs the 45 secs wait.

How easy will it be to change out the HDD on a new PS4? Is it simply plug and play, or do i have to do something extra? ( i bought the HGST Travelstar 5K1500 2.5-in 1.5TB 5400RPM SATA III Laptop Hard Drive 0J28001)
