could the PS3 be updated for

1. burning cd's (maybe, highly doubt it but dvd's too)

2. the PSNS (PlayStationNetworkStore) be updated with music downloads from Connect http://musicstore.connect.com/

3. rip dvds (maybe not)

and is there and emulator for the PS3

I think they may have thought about that before they came out with it. Especially since the burning cds and dvds got out of hand. Im pretty sure they made the game so you cant rig it to do illegal activity. That may have even been a requirement.

I'm not positive but I'm pretty sure the drive doesn't have the capability to burn to disc, so an update would do no help Music downloads could be a possibility As far as the emulator goes, I see no reason why an emulator couldnt run if you have YDL installed. Don't know about running it from the XMB tho.
