absolutely it should.  If you get a Tv that supports 1080p, it should have no problem back converting to lower resolutions where needed.

I would skip the LCD and/or plasma.  For the money, DLP has great TVs.  Take a look at DLP before making a decision.

Just be aware that projection tvs are on the way out and that burnt out bulbs can be a problem with DLPs.  Replacing a 300 dollar bulb every few years may make up for the difference in prices.

But being converted-i heard if it down scales the resolution, this is bad or have i got it all wrong. That link doesnt actually say it supports 720p does it.

Well, i plan on getting that tv in the link anyway. I didnt want to go so big but as 1080p only starts on tv's 40" or bigger then thats why. Coz i reckon it will be worth it in the long run as more and more games will support that resolution and eventually should be standard for games and not to mention all blu ray movies will be that. I just hope it handles 720p alright.

hey, thanks dude. But it only says 1080p on broadcast format supported.

So if i run games at 720p on it, will i get black boaders all around the tv to fill in the space ?.

Actually, plasma and CRTs are the best. LCD and DLPs are very good also. I love my 37" plasma, but if they made a 37" tube that didn't weigh a ton, I'd have gotten that one.

There will be no black borders. A 1080p screen can also accept 720p and 1080i. They all have the exact same aspect ratio.

Yep it will accept 1080p.  For the guy suggesting DLP, I've never been amazed with it personally.  When I stand in front of the TV the picture goes black and you can't see it as well.  I don't want to have to sit on a straight line every time I want to watch TV...

the black borders fall under the aspect ratio. Some t.v's allow you to control that. I have a button on my remote that gives you that control instantly.
