No they aren't. The sixaxis is way different. You must have never played using one. The Dualshock 2 is better in my opinion.

I think will just pay off that stupid gay company and bring out the PS3 controller with six axis and rumble, but none of the PS3 exclusives will have rumble... unless they programme it to be a time frequency

Sixaxis. I played with a wireless controller that didn't have rumble on my ps2 anyway so I don't miss it.

sixaxis for sure,it just has so many things packed into one controller. the only thing that can make it better is vibration but even without it its awesome.

Not crazy about L2 and R2 (or the whole motion sensing thing in general) but the sixaxis seems to be a little more responsive, so yeah, sixaxis. Also, not to sound like and idiot, but when I first realized that "sixaxis" spelled backwards was "sixaxis", I was like, "OMGthatpwns!(don't really talk like that, I hate internet slang)".

Dualshock2 FTW. A lot of people say they " dont like rumble " but IMO it was a bad decision on $ony's behalf and a step backwards in the evolution of gaming. I think in shooters rumble is a prerequsite and is much more immersing than occasionally thrusting controller forwards to melee ( especially when there's a melee button) and even the people who own all platforms have been given another reason to opt for Wii/360 version over PS3 for either acheivments, rumble and still HD1080i visuals or Wii controlls and perhaps DS connectivity. I like the PS3 as a system and I think eventually there will be a decent amount of software to warrant the purchase but I wish you could plug a Dualshock 2 in there and aside from Socom 4 or other must have exclusives all of my shooters will be on the other two systems. Also, I prefer a heavier controller and think sixaxis feels " light and cheap". Dig the new L2/R2 though.

At least it still has a decent D-pad. I bought Tony Hawk's Project 8 for 360 and that D-pad is ****ing horrendous. I will be purchasing Project 9 or whatever it's called and any Street Fighter or other 2D fighters for PS3 thats for sure.

Not that anyone will read this way down here, but I think that I will only miss some the rumble in some racing games.  But for the most part I think you can actually "feel" the game better with the sixaxis.

For example when I was playing NHL 07 you can push the controller forward and check an opponent.  When I was doing this it really felt like I was hitting my cousin.

Just thought you guys might like that point of view.

Sixaxis for sure! Sixaxis has wireless, usb connectivity, PS button, and is overall an improved controller over DualShock2 imo. I never liked rumble so I do miss it one bit.

neither...I'll wait for Sony's big announcement of releasing the DualShock_Sixaxis. Personally, I find it horribly retarded of sony to create "triggers" (l2/r2) that are both convex shaped. They are also both insanely sensitive so barely touching the buttons causes a reaction. Triggers are supposed to be concave, that means curve with your finger, not the opposite because it doesn't allow for easy gripping. When was the last time you saw a gun with a trigger that was convex? I find myself having to rest my fingers under the triggers since lightly touching them makes them function. This leads to my not having enough reaction time to get my fingers around the trigger to press them and often use my index fingers for L1/R1 also for the 2's. Then there's the lovely issue of sliding off the "trigger" because of their design. I hope when they release a Dualshock_Sixaxis they redesign l2/r2 to be concave.

ill have to go with DS2 for one reason the rumble

i personally dont play (hate) racing games (add flying to that), and that is so far the main function of the sixaxis, and dont get me started on nba2k7,, it's one thing to make u use the sixaxis for free throws, but to shove it down ur throat wither u like it or not, that just made me return the game, honestly

so as a guy who hate racing game, i feel bad about taking out rumble for a feature that i can care less about, that is untill they come up with some good use for it (i have faith in Kojima to use it in a good way)

The sixaxis rocks, the bluetooth on its own is cool the motion sensing is also cool but the only drawback is the rumble feature.

The motion sensing is cool when ur playing warhawk, ace combat, lair and other cool games that will eventualy come that is if ace combat will come which is one of the best plane games ever, probably MGS4 will use it cuz u can expect anythin cool from kojima. The controler is also smooth fast responsive and easy/comfortable to handle, I just love technology, not technology drawbacks.

But how will i ever feel the rumble when phsyco mantis rumbles my dualshock 2 or the rumble when my player gets hurt, HOW WILL I EVER PLAY GOD OF WAR AGAIN with the same feeling to it. any way i hope they'll release a rumble featured controler even if its after 1-2 years i can wait but better not get my hopes up high, might as well get used to sixaxis 4 the good of all.

Definately sixaxis... I'd rather have more controls than some vibrations.

Sixaxis is better IMO., because it lighter and the best feature is the R2 and L2 buttons stick out so they don't get stuck like the DS2.

I really like the SIXAXIS!  The wireless and recharging system is awsome!  If you have been reading one of the some of the other post in the forum, sony is looking at releasing a rumble version of the SIXAXIS.  (Source: IGN)  So then everone should be happy!

SIXAXIS. Never cared too much for rumble, and the tilt-sensing is more appealing. The PS button is a convient way to manage the system without having to reset the console like before, and the wireless bluetooth is a plus.

I have to say dual-shock simply because if I don't wan't the rumble feature, I can disable it on most games. Sixaxis forces the features on you.

I like options, not demands.

exactly, i also dont like having to look at my hands to see if the controller is still in them because its so light, sixaxis feels like a 99 cents store ps2 controller, very flimsy

dual shock

i dont know how you can possibly say sixaxis, its a step back, especially since theres a motion sensor bar you can buy for the ps2 controller

I kinda agree with you, I do kinda miss the rumble but you can't argue with the new more precise joysticks and triggers. So if I had to choose I'd rather SIXAXIS.

i like how light the sixaxis is and i know that is only because they removed rumble but most games i play nowadays on my ps2 dont use rumble that wisely so to me that doesnt really make a difference but thee real reason that i like the sixaxis more is that the buttons are more responsive and the L2 and R2 are so much better as triggers!

I like the sixaxis controller better than the dualshock 2 because the joy sticks fell more tight. When i compared the two controllers, the rubber nubs on the dual shock contoller got anoying and i would say make you play worse when it comes to first person shooters. I prefer the sixaxis for first person shooters over the dualshock. I just wish that it still had the rumble feature.

Add the Wiimote to the equasion.  Next gen, and part way through this gen, you will see peripherals just like the wiimote for ps3.  The old controlers are a dying breed.  Next gen time, with out a doubt, all console makers will have interactive devices much like nintendos wiimote.

The sixaxis...well it kinda has motion sensing.  I believe its more like directional sensing...thats just me.  Its limited as to how it can be used in a game.  And it lacks input back to the user.  Yea, sony shoulda just coughed up the money for the rights to use the rumble pack [remember now they lost a 90 million dollar lawsuit to a california company and thats why we dont have the rumble pack].

If you ask me, sonys desperate need to revamp the controler wasn't met at all.

I just want to know which you prefer. I prefer SIXAXIS, I don't like rumble all that much.theycallmeryan

It's the form factor of the control that is more or less the same genius. You should read up before posting on something you know nothing about.
