Has anyone played Persona 3 Portable yet? I know Persona 3 is a well-regarded game, but I'm a bit nervous about the fact that the whole high-school part was changed into a 2D highlight-who-you-want-to-talk-with section instead of being fully rendered. This was fine in Phantasy Star Online, as the non-combat parts weren't very significant, but in P3, it's an important part. So I'm kind of curious whether I should pick it up on the PSP or just hunt down a PS2 copy. .LongZhiZi
there's a review at 1UP.com - the reviewer seems to think that 2D part made the game quicker. and overall (with the addition of playing as a girl) thnks its a great intro than the Ps2 version.

guys does MGS peace walker play like MGS4?
#453 Posted by TheDromader (981 posts) -

Would you guys recommend Killzone:Liberation or Resistance:Retribution?

CrossFire245

I can recommend Killzone. Its a fun game, and it play very well on the PSP. Resistance on the other hand, well, is pretty inconveniant on the PSP, or atleast thats what I couls squeze out of the demo. But Im sure you can get used to it, but for now, I recommend Killzone with no regret.

Sony just launched its line of "PSP Essentials", with an entire batch of core games available for only 10 bucks. I have a link in my newest blog if you want to follow it. Other than that, just about any game on clearance can be acquired for little money. I just got Fat Princess for 5 bucks and that's a 2010 title.

#458 Posted by Daavpuke (13769 posts) -
Depends how you want to play it. It's a bit better on PS3, but PSP is fresher and has portability.
#459 Posted by Xx-Addict-xX (1119 posts) -
Ya...I've never played it yet. If i get it though, i gonna get it from PSN store...either way. Is it good enough, would you recommened?
#460 Posted by Daavpuke (13769 posts) -
Wouldn't know until I start my playthrough. The testrun was awesome, but that's all I can really say. I see a lot of potential in it.
#461 Posted by Xx-Addict-xX (1119 posts) -
You haven't played it yet..? Come on lil buddy. What's more hot than a hot princess stuffing cake in her

Try Phantasy Star Portable (there's a demo for the first one on the US PSN and a demo for the upcoming sequel on the Japanese PSN). It's not exactly the same, but it's along those lines.

Anyone play either of the Warhammer Series for the PSP? Just wanted to know if they fun or not
#474 Posted by Daavpuke (13769 posts) -
I only heard horrible horrible things about them, so I'm staying clear of them.
#475 Posted by Xx-Addict-xX (1119 posts) -
I've heard mixed things, but they got like 'avgerage' reviews.
#476 Posted by Granpire (2749 posts) -

I played Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command before reading any reviews, and actually liked it. It was an interesting turn-based strategy, nothing really innovative, but it was satisfying, and good strategy is hard to come by on the PSP.

Thats good to hear. Is there good like customization and lvl variance?

Hmm, you do get to choose a load out for your troops at the beginning of the battle, but this isn't an RPG, so you don't have levels. It's a very simple squad-based strategy game, but what little it does, it does well. You have very destructible levels, level design is strong, and AI is pretty good as well. It's been a long time since I played the game, but I have fond memories of it.

Im looking for one or more PSP games that are fun to play ad-hoc against just one friend. We have GTA and thats quite ok but bores after a while. We are especially looking for a arcade racing game like Motorstorm or Burnout (Modnation racers looks great but we just want a cheaper game :)) but it has to be fun with just 2 players, so if ai bots can be added it would be great. Any other reccomendations for 2 player ad hoc fun would be nice too :D.

Hmm...sounds promising. I might pick it up then. Is there like 'troop' variance? Or is it just like a strat. game?

I THINK that some of your squad members have differences in what weapons they can choose and the like, but don't quote me on that. It is a fairly straightforward strategy game. It even had online, I never had the chance to try it at the time, I should find my game somewhere and get back to you.

Quoting myself to the next page, its quite urgent cause i go on holiday next week. [QUOTE="kemphaan"]Im looking for one or more PSP games that are fun to play ad-hoc against just one friend. What's up, hopefully this thread isn't completely dead anyway what I'd like to know if there is some kind of rhythm game with lots of japanese stuff like jpop and jrock songs. I suppose DJ Max Fever is the closest I can get?

#484 Posted by Xx-Addict-xX (1119 posts) -
Ya that's prolly the best bet. All the other stuff is more westeren (USA) music.

Phantasy Star Portable. I think.

I mean i already looked at reviews, but my main questions is: Will the gameplay become repetitive?

Best online FPS?

There aren't many FPS for the PSP. I could be wrong though. The first that comes to mind is Medal of Honor.

How are the Ys series? How do these games play?

I noticed people here are talking about P3P a lot. What kind of RPG is it exactly? Should I get it or MGS PW?

Well, first of all, both are good games so I doubt you can go wrong. P3P is basically divided into two parts, day-time and nighttime. During the day, you'll go to class (don't worry- you rarely are actually part of the class) and make friends/girlfriends. Doing so will increase your strength during combat. During the night, you'll go slay monsters in Tartarus. It's got turn based combat, but it's pretty zippy. I really think I did the game a disservice- I think Gamespot has a video review of the PS2 version, which is mostly the same game.

I only have the first, but if the series is anything like it: HARD.

p.s i don't have wireless connection but i have dsl.

#494 Posted by Daavpuke (13769 posts) -
I love the fat 1000 model the most, but the 3000 has a few minor upgrades, I'd go with that if you'd like. I like the 1000 sturdyness though.

Locoroco 2 AND Killzone: Liberation

Or

Mercury Meltdown

I'm going to the Grand Canyon and need about 10 hours of entertainment. Mercury Meltdown has 160 levels to keep me busy, but my worry is that I'll get bored of it after a while. So, what would you recommend; without online! Thanks!

@kemphaan, Dont' have much ad hoc experience personally but you could always research these games and see if you consider them fun.

  • MHF series
  • Dissidia FF
  • Patapon 2
  • Locoroco 2

Go with the 3000. The PSP Go is a good piece of tech but unfortunately, quite a few of the games that only came out on UMD before the PSP Go was released still haven't made their way on the PS store. So you'd miss out on games.

Hi, Thx for the reccomendations, i know the games but most arent my type of game. As said im looking for an arcade racer that can add ai bots on ad-hoc. So u wont race 1 on 1 every time. Btw didnt know locoroco 2 had ad hoc function.

I'm pretty sure Star Wars Battlefront II had local bots, not sure about the others, but I believe that much can be said for Battlefront II.
