ps3 wont play games in 1080p

well i have a sony bravia and it tells my what hd its playing in, anyway when i boot my ps3 up the XMB shows in 1080p but as soon as i launch any of my games, they all play in 720p. how do i make it play in 1080p.

Either you need to set it so your TV only plays the games in 1080, by simply checking only the 1080 box in display options on XMB. Or the game doesnt support 1080..

Not all PS3 games support 1080p.

Not all games will upscale to 1080p even if the game case says it supports it. Some examples i've ran into are GTA4, Brutal Legend, Socom:C, and Dead Space. When i started playing my tv would play them at 720p, so i tried to force 1080p output and the games ended up looking worse. Other games such as MGS4, GoW collection will automatically upscale.

I would recommend to just play at which ever resolution the game automatically goes to.
